The definition of true skill in halo?

playing all four players on one team at once, split screen!
joypad in each hand, one by each foot, and still pwning all you noobs!

now that would really impress me, as for the rest of you? pah!

:P

This game is allot like life.

Being in combat situations I can say that you can plan and train, and plan and train all day long. But there is no way you can train for every situation you will encounter. Having basic skill will give you an advantage, but there will always be luck that can turn the tide in any battle.

Arguing about luck versus cheating versus skill is about as time wasting as it gets. Life and gaming will always favor the lucky over the skilled, and will always favor the one who knows a shortcut, or a trick, if they can get away with it.

that does seem to be true very often....but what constitutes skill is when you can have fun whether or not you win ;) b/c it is just a game after all

Ooh. This is kind of interesting after all this time... two months? Ha. Or one. Pshh. ANYWAY!

I just wanted to address 'cheating' and 'skill' in Halo 2.

Having the ability to memorize and utilize with efficiency the amount of button glitches to own the other team is SKILL.

What constitutes cheating means having advantages against someone else who doesn't have anything near touching you. This means that button glitches are not cheating. Everyone has button glitches available to them. Their knowledge of them and how to execute them is up to them. If they want to be purist and melee by pressing B+B and fire pressing R+R+R+R instead of BYB or RRXYYRRX, then that's their choice. Having made that choice or turning their cheek to button glitches doesn't give them the right or responsibility to say button glitches is cheating.

If anything, when someone has to cry 'cheating' every time they can't explain why they got owned... then maybe they shouldn't think themselves inferior enough to be cheated against in a game where knowing a lot more than Spartan John 117's backstory and how to hold a xbox controller is helpful.

Anyway... My experience with 'cheaters' wasn't really that at all. When I was instantly killed because a guy's Battle Rifle sounded like a frickin' machine gun... I wondered how he did it rather than accusing him of being a cheater. I forgot who it was... Funnybunny0. Yessss. That guy. I eventually found out a week after and used it and was called a cheater.

Haha.
