I have used it occasionally but not as a mater of practice and with no consistency. I have however noticed that you cover ground slightly faster in the open and you are harder to hit. Some even suggest that they can aim smoother while in the air. In team SWAT using the technique in a group, alternately running and jumping does tend to be effective in preventing multiple kills with one shot on your group.

I jump for tactical reasons. Not to get across a bridge... or crane.

I don't use it while walking in a straight line seeing as you're pretty much helpless when you hit the ground when spotted.
But jumping around corners and while having up close melee fights works well. On Beaver Creek I jump through the teleporters because it's harder to get camped.

Like Wrecktified said, I jump for tactical reasons only, i.e. getting the headshot because he thinks I'm going to walk about the side of the barrier. Jumping any other time is suicide IMO, there's always a sniper watching you and everyone knows a guy jumping is the easiest kill with a sniper, besides a non-moving target.

A jumping melee is more powerful than a nowmal melee on the ground. And that teleporter idea is smart, I'll have to try it. (I never jump through, I just walk...)

When I play against my roommate and I have a chance to get a sniper rifle he will turn his sensitivity up and turn 360's as fast as he can while in the air. It's actually pretty effective as it throws off anyone trying for a headshot, but I have to imagine that it can be disorienting.

Bad idea, jumping gives a good sniper a path to follow and is far more predicible than strafing and stuttering when you walk. Hell, even ducking is a better idea. Any sniper who's played the game more than a few times knows the path of a jump, and since you can't move while in the air, you're a sitting duck, really.

Err... flying duck.... whatever...

Actually, if you jump and crouch in an unpredictable manner, it's hard.

I jump through EVERY teleporter. sniping jumpers isnt hard. Its not hard to BR them. If your going around a corner its good to grenade and jump. I never jump in meelee fights and i dont even crouch.

  • 08.03.2007 11:00 AM PDT

The only times I jump is in rockets (I jump all the time in rockets) and I also jump alot in swords.
I jump and do a full spin when I go through any teleporter (except in Gemini, so I don't fall of the platform, and in Headlong, because I can already see what's there) and if my auto-aim acts up, I know where to shoot.

And I also jump to try to avoid splatters.
