They're called 'achievements' because they're meant to be 'achieved' by the player. Creating a server for the sheer purpose of cheating achievements is lame.
Wow.
Ok, I think you barking up the wrong tree here. How is setting up a server and playing all the default maps and all the variants cheating? and how is it different from joining existing servers?

Not when you think about it. I say the Rainman and Violent Cartographer achievements are an exception. Why? Halo 2 Vista hasn't quite caught on yet. I still have yet to see a single game hosting Backwash, and most of the servers out there show 0/16 players. So if you're building a server that includes all the maps and game varients with the intent of playing all of them, but not rush through them, you might say that the server was set up for getting the achievements, but you're still doing it for gameplay. As for decorated soldier, the best way to get it is a non-team game of slayer on Zanzibar. Does setting up this map and gametype mean he's cheating? No. He can still get the achievement legitimately, but finding a server with the map and gametype that will even allow you to attempt this achievement is in and of itself a chore. That shouldn't be part of getting the achievement. Gameplay is what should determine it. It isn't the players' fault that Vista (and Halo 2 Vista) haven't caught on yet, and will probably lose a significant amount of players once Halo 3 is released in September.
Thats pretty much sums up the reason of why I thought about this.

Not to me. I don't find anything wrong with inviting people to play in order to gain the achievements. Staging is if you told people to stand still so you can get a headshot off of them. Staging is if you brought a bunch of friends together and they willingly stood together in a big circle so you could get a killtacular.
What you say is true, but for the majority, people who ask the populace or a group of friends to get together to 'unlock the achievements', they WILL stage the event. I don't know anyone who totally cares about having every achievement that's a serious professional that is willing to work for every achievement. For the most part, the people who really can unlock the achievements legitimately without resorting to staging are the people who really *don't* care about achievements for the most part. Yes, I'm speaking ahead of myself and no, I don't know if Smoth 007 staged the achievements or worked with a group legitimately to obtain them, but the odds greatly favor that Smoth 007 did indeed stage the event based on the community as a whole.
Your way off.
I never talked about staging anything. H2V is still new are there is still a very low number of players on the servers at any given time. I've tried running my own game but nobody joins and this is the reason why I'm here. I'm not trying to cheat but YES, I want to get the achievements sooner or later.
LOL. What exactly is a 'serious professional' in this context? The 'Pro' label doesn't mean anything unless your playing in a serious competition - I just play for fun. Most people tend to forget that all this is about playing and having fun.
I beg your pardon, but to what 'event' are you referring to?

I ran a Gold-only server swapping gametypes casually, and gradually got through each of them. I did not sit and grind through all of them relentlessly for the sheer purpose of unlocking the achievement and not play the game for what it's worth -- I gradually did them over the course of a couple weeks, having fun with the different modes of play.
So how is that different from what I want to do?
