The new "Xbox Spring Guide 2004" says:

"... called the Battlerifle, to the alien powered version called the Covenant Carbine... both feature sniper scopes for zooming in opponents...as well as a fast firing rate for taking out foes.

And for those of you who are looking for a new take on the Sniper Rifle, the Covenant has put its on spin on the firearm. THE COVENANT SNIPER RIFLE takes it cues from the human created weapon, but adds on a high-powered, lightning fast energy burst to deal damage from afar."

So there is both the Covenant Carbine and the new yet to be seen Covenant Sniper Rifle.

You can get a picture of the covie sniper rifle (pre-xbox) here. Since it is pre-xbox, the gun will be updated big time. That is, if they even do a covie sniper rifle.

I don't think that pre-xbox pic is the sniper rifle i mean it doesn't have a scope and he holds it with both hands on the handle not one on the stock and one on the handle he would have no balance the way he is holding it looks to me like a REALLY EARLY plasma sword. As for the new covie sniper I think what would make more sense would be more power less ammo or really long reload time like it needs to charge or something. If it fired a lot of little shots like plasma pistol with a scope it would defeat the purpose of a sniper rifle which is to kill instantly so the target and the targets teamates don't know where you are. I mean yeah you may be able to keep your target down by lots of little shots but his buddy seeing where you are from all the plasma shots will just lock on your dead. The human rifle was just right power wise and the covie version needs to be equal to or greater than in it in power. As for tracers I think they should get rid of the human tracer if it doesnt kill the target at least in MP.

The caption said that it was a covie sniper rifle. It is from Bungie. Go to Halo Xbox under Games on your little menu on the bottom of the screen, then click pre-xbox, then go to the fourth page of the pre-xbox selection, then the pic and caption is 3 down on the first column.

Seriously, does anyone read through a thread before posting?

Spartan29.... Read the caption on the very bottom of page 34, see that in the small print? It's only been mentioned about three times in this very thread.

Ok, well sorry. Don't need to get all frustrated and stuff. Anyway I wasn't going against the fact that there is going to be one, I merely did not know that they said it. So just lay off.

*grins* You haven't seen me lay on.

How about this? A long distance needler would be awesome as well come to think of it. It wouldn't be homing, just a sliver fired at high velocity. Imagine it doing just a small amount of damage when it hit, then twice that a second later. It would probably take five hits to finish you so it would be well balanced against a human's version. It would be a pain in the arse to snipe against. You get hit, you lose scope, you try and zoom in again and the secondary hit takes effect resetting you again.
