I've been reading these forums for sometime now and i haven't seen anyone post on enemy AI in quite awhile. I was just wondering if anyone had read if enemies will be able to carry more than one weapon and be able to switch between the 2. I know that if an enemy switched weapons during a battle it would add a vast amount of realism that really isnt present in many other FPS's. I can't think of any FPS's off the top of my head that have had this present besides twitch shooters such as Unreal Tournament or say Quake 3 especially in single player, so this all be it a small addition i feel it can help the action immensely.

I dont think it would add to the realism because troops are usally issued a general weapon.

Well I i was thinking along the lines of maybe 2 general weapons. Much like our armed forces are issued some sort of rifle as well as a pistol. I just think that even a covenant may need some kind of "back-up" weapon. Say there is an elite using the covenant sniper rifle and you walk up on him he wouldn't want to keep shooting at you with his sniper rifle he would want to use a plasma pistol or some other close range weapon. Just a thought anyway :)

Perhaps for Elites, I think that would be amazing. Could you imagine an Elite coming in with an overcharged plasma pistol, switching over to the carbine after he hits you? Ow!
That would be cool, especially for the black special ops types.

--There are difficulties with the other Covenant Types
Grunts probably only get the one weapon assigned to them.
Brutes wouldn't trade their weapon for anything I think.
Jackals can only carry the one weapon since the other hand is occupied.
Hunters... be real :)

YES, they need to have this added in H2 it would add realism to the game becuz it would add lotz to the game such as longer bouts i could take plasma pistol fire all day and i no this is already added but the sentinials can hace plasma rifles noe it will add to a tougher battle!!!!!!!!

The elite snipers with a second weapon would be cool. That works.

I really like this idea, Bungie could really show off the AI by doing this.

That is a good way to show off AI! Definitely. I like that idea not only because of the realism, but because of the challenge it implies. Legendary would be even harder. A fairly tactical Halo 2 campaign is awesome because you play campaign to advance and alternate your skills, which you can later apply in Multiplayer.
Having the Elites switch weapons is awesome. Some people said there should be something harder than Legendary, but if Bungie improved the AI that dramatically, it will be hard enough. Pure Adrenaline!

More importantly, should enemies run out of ammo? If you're pinned down by an elite using his plasmarifle for suppression fire and unloading hundreds of little plasma shots at your position, then he should run out of battery power eventually. Then he'd have to charge you and try to beat you to death with his empty gun; perfect time to have a shotgun handy. Anyway, I'd like to see that kind of realism in enemy AI, but I have my doubts.

I think they shouldnt run outa ammo because i think the cove know how to reload the weapons they carry and have a bunch of spare batteries.

I agree with Draerden, the Elites could use it nicely. Grunt and Jackals I don't think would need it. Have looked into the brutes a whole lot though.

The enemies running out of ammo is a good idea too. i was playing a game the other day and was hiding behind a box or something and one of the enemies just unloaded clip after clip after clip, so if they ran out of ammo it would have at least some kind of realism to it.

True they would have batteries but at least have an animation for the battery switching, which may give u an opening for some kind of attack.

Both ideas are awesome.

I look at it like this:

Elite running out of ammo + Elite switching weapon (i.e. after he ran out of ammo)= Kick ass AI and loads of extra fun!!!!!

Enemies switching clips would add alot of realism and a little more strategy to the game.

I also like the idea of the enemies having fixed ammo capacities. That way if you took them down fast you're rewarded with more ammunition for your gun.

Secondly, it would be hilarious if you heard the click of an Elite's carbine hitting an empty chamber just to rush in and get shot with a human battlerifle he picked up earlier... that would be ... well... awesome.

Yea that would be awesome. Like if u killed an elite and he dropped his carbine and a nearby grunt saw it. He could go drop his plasma pistol and start using the carbine. Also, because he isnt trained with it his accuracy would suffer greatly.

Also do you think the covies should be able to pick up human weapons?

I don't see why they wouldn't be able to. If humans can use covie weapons why shouldn't it go the other way as well.

While Covies could use human weapons, it would really go against a lot of religious beliefs. If you remember in The Fall of Reach, Nylund describes how a Jackal fought with his fists before he would pick up an AR laying on the ground. Covenant simply wouldn't want to use a human weapon. . . under any condition.

Well what about the covenant atheist?(spelling?) Also Grunts are cowards and i think would rather live than be honorable.

Well maybe it should be that only certain races can use it then? I was looking more as if they would be able to than if they would actually do it due to their religion.
