Trust me, they are not cowards, and they are very honorable(in a sick Covenant sense). Legendary is as close to their zeal as it gets right now. Bungie said we will also have to respect the little buggers from now on with the changes they've made. As for them picking up human weapons. Hell no. They can slaughter that concept in mulitplayer, but in campaign the story must be maintained. And the Brutes like the Covenant, they are freaking ceremonial and temple guards. They have to be zealous for that kind of job.

Yeah AFTER you killed everything. Now try taking them head on with a human gun. You'll probably get this.

" Not so tough are ya?! " from one of them.

Yea i haven't read anything about the brutes not liking the covenant except that they don't get along with elites. But thats the only thing i've read regarding that and seeming that this is a religious war i really don't know if any of the warriors would pick up a weapon forged by the race the are trying to erradicate. Hell I don't know.

Also do you think the covies should be able to pick up human weapons?

Sry if this was posted in an earlier page(too lazy to read the second page) Do you remember the knights of the middle ages, they killed themselves to appease god. I know that the covenant are much more religious. They believe all things human should be destroyed

Yes ive also had those cute ,brave grunts too.

Another thing. Maybe an explosion hits nearby an elite and knocks him down (not kiling) and his weapon was knocked out of his hand and he pulls out his backup piece. Or you could melee an enemy with out killing and knocking his weapon to the ground

Yea knocking weapons away would be cool or maybe some kind of counter system like Chronicles of Riddick has. Like where if you get close enuf you can grab there gun and point it at their head right before there fire and they would end up shooting themselves in their head. However since this has already been used in a game i doubt that bungie will steal it.

Grunt and Jackal AI aren't what I'd call cowardly, but rather more what I'd call realistic. Think about it for a second. You're a soldier on a battlefield against a strange alien race. One of them is completely undefeated. You look around and all your friends, allies and leaders are having their skulls aired out by this super-alien soldier. You've been through training and conditioning, you've seen a lot of bad situations and grizzly scenes, but this guy is the closest thing to death itself. Now tell me, do you stand up and fight this war-god until your painful and destined end? Of course not, you soil yourself in terror and run for your life.

Marines never seemed all that believable to me because they never got scared. I can understand them being courageous the majority of the time, but when elites are slaughtering everyone around them they never seem to lose their cool or try to retreat. The only time a marine ever seemed unsure is when one asks for a dropship on AotCR.

These guys are going to die. Chances are, they know that. I think that should bother them at least a little bit.

Just wondering but I originally heard that elites in particular would flip tables for cover and cilmb poles and walls to get a distinct advantage in battles. I was wondering if these elements were still being implemented.

AI weapon switching would be amazing...it truly would add to the realism, well at least the Convenant having a small sidearm and switching it when out of ammo. Having a limited ammo amount for the enemies is a cool concept, but not a small amount of ammo. Smart soldiers, like Elites and Jackals, would carry plenty of ammo, enough to last them 5 minutes of continuous fire. And they would NEVER pick up a human's weapon for reasons already stated.

(What would be cool is a Jackal using an AR, then a nearby Elite sees this and stops firing on you to kill the disgraceful Jackal..but thats just useless animation, just added for effect, not storyline).

haha yea an elite killing a traitor would be funny. What if it then turned to a big covie battle because that jackals friends in turn started firing back at the elite.

yeah definitely, from what i heard, that sweet a$$ concept is still going to be in the game. THAT would truly be worth adding to the game, a huge does of realism and immersion would result from adding that in. Whats also cool is that the enemies can detect the destructable environment and destroy that if it gives them a better shot at you.

The AI will literally kicka$$. 11.09.04

I say if they can flip over tables, we should be able to shoot through them.

yeah, a huge covie battle resulting from a traitor would be hella cool, especially if it moved along the story... what would also be cool is random animations and scripted events that happen differently every time you play the game .i.e., the covenant battle among themselves because of the traitor, or something like a group of banshees that usually just flies overheard for immersion actually comes down and starts attacking..i dunno, stuff like that

I couldn't imagine Bungie having destructible environments and an indestructible table. :p

definitely, that would be a killer concept...the elements of the destructable terrain could possible allow that

My thumbsticks will be your Doom.... sorry 'bout that.
My Stats

I remember reading a weekly update where Frankie said the Elites realoading action is a little too real (or something). Apparently in Halo1 you could catch a peek of them reloading the Needler (i can't remember seeing one do so, but since we Spartans can, i believe it). Now, after a showdown with an Elite and he's lying in a pool of his own purple blood, I go over to pick up his PlasmaRiffle. I know he had been unloading on me for more than 2 minutes (sometimes i take my time in my Covie killing) yet his riffle still has a decent charge (usually with a battery charge of 70+).

What i'm thinking is that the elites can run out of plasma charge but they can also recharge/reload them using their armor's sheild tech. Imagine; your pinned down then suddenly you hear the fizzle of a depleted plasma weapon. You hear the Elite curse in his own language and when you turn the corner, SMG's at the ready, you see the elite caught in the act of hooking up his riffle to his suit so that it can take it's new charge.

Now that would be realistic!!!

Also i agree with Hikaru in that they should leave the Elite-wielding-human-weapons to the MP. Otherwise it would ruin the feel of the story (unless there is a faction of Elites that revolt against the Covenant and decide to use whatever they can against their former allies -re: Covie civil war theory)

I'm not 100% sure but the AI can board you while on your vehicle at anytime just like you can to them right? I know there will be some that are scripted but they won't all be will they?

Another question. Ok so the covies will not pick up weapons which are human made i guess we decided. But, i know i've seen certain animations depicting covies taking control of human vehicles like the warthog would this not also go against their religion?? just a question.

Yes it is also against their religion. My best guess is that they will toss you out, like the Brutes did at E3 last year, and will jump off to engage you.

Yeah i think the shots of Elites driving the hog is probably from MP games. I hope in MP we can have ODST's as our helpers (bots), and an Elite player can have (-enter your favorite covie race here-) as theirs.

Don't know if this has been mentioned, so sorry if so.
Anyways i don't know about the two weapons thing, but they should be able to switch weapons. Yea a grunt is issued a pistol, but say their friend elite dies. So they relize their gun sucks and runs over and picks up a plasma rifle instead. Or have certian ammo amounts. They got a plasma rifle but you just keep dodging their shots and they have to go pick up some other weapon.

Now the covies having side arms would be cool but why not the marines too I mean they too have a pistol right. The covies charging plasma weapons i could deal without but I would like to see needlers being reloaded and covie carbines too, also why did the marines never reload obviously they would need to reload at some point. In SP the elites and possibly brutes will be able to board any covie vehicle that you can and as for human vehicles they will throw you out and then engage you. In MP though elites are the same as spartans except for appearence.
