And the Shadow fell upon the Land, and the World was riven stone from stone. The oceans fled, and the mountains were swallowed up, and the nations were scattered to the eight corners of the World. The moon was blood, and the sun was as ashes. The seas boiled, and the living envied the dead. All was shattered, and all but memory lost, and one memory above all others, of him who brought the Shadow and the Breaking of the World. And him they named Dragon.

Gah, how could I?

Dunno. It's shameful, though.

You know Jim, Recon, and Achilles put the snap, crackle, and pop into everything.

That's true. But Achronos forced them to do so.

By the way, I had a dream tonight, and lukems was in it. Does that make me insane?
Maybe I shouldn't have listened to those podcasts.

I don't think it makes you insane...perhaps other things, but not insane.

I'll be on my own side.

What can moderators do?

D-Delete your stupid posts.
P-Pin your cool ones.
R-Reveal posts by banned morons, like TGP said.
K-Kick you the -blam!- out of the forums.

Moderators = DPRK.

another things is the edit post button. Instead of just locking a topic a mod should sometimes just edit their post with a moderators warning. Not a ban. But just a warning stating that this is spam or something if it isn't worth getting banned over.

Yes, but then some would argue that this is violating the member's rights. That's worse than "delete.." Just playing devil's advocate, here.
I don't think you are playing devil's advocate -- I think you hit the nail right on the head.

I can see the merit behind editing another user's post to remove inappropriate links or to make non-substantive edits, but editing and replacing another user's substantive written content is a whole different ballgame, no matter how bad it is.

True, but on B.net, we have no rights. Remember?

Yes we don't.

What I was talking about was editing posts with a warning when they are contributing to spam. I am talking about useless posts like OMG I just Heard there is a Halo 3! Is this True? . That is usually just spam. This I would not edit I just saw that server 3 is not open it has a bunch of stuff on it. It would depend on the context. It's just another way to warn members :)

No. Editing a users post to remove substantive content is absolutely no different from deleting the post from existence, except that it adds a bit of public insult on top. As already noted previously in this thread, this remedy is inappropriate in almost every situation.

Halo3Planet, the place for all things Halo 3..

Need help finding skulls, make sure to go here.

I have seen some Moderators edit posts, but it's only when there is something in the post that shouldn't be seen. Or, they just post something really funny.

Moderators have the ability to make people cry, wince, scream, kick their cat, take the lord's name in vain and thrust members into a six month long battle with emotional depression where we become consumed with our own madness and self worth. Other than that, they're just normal people.

Just a little though.

Old school Bungie, born and raised,
In the Septagon is where I spend most of my days.
Relaxin', maxin', posting all cool,
Talking about Halo, life and some school.
Got in one little argument, and the mods got scared,
they said "You're gonna get banned and your member title'll be bare!"

Delete makes a thread vanish from existence.
Pin turns the thread into a sticky, so it always stays at the top of the forum list like belated icing on the proverbial forum cake.
Lock stops people from replying to a topic.
Reveal makes posts made by banned members of the forum visible for a short period. Like, if you want to laugh at them or something.

-TGP-

I know its against the rules to delete posts like Achronos said, but you guys never delete a thread, why is that?

The best way to teach is through example...

That, and deleting threads removes them permanently. There's no way to get them back if a mistake were to be made, or if Achronos would want to double check them.

2B || !2B - Why don't you look Inside the Machine?

Moderators can do all sorts of things, one of which includes bAnTiNg teh foolz.

Master Moderators can do some serious damage if you're a naughty person.

Achronos can make it look as if you never existed. He has the best of the abilities >_>
