They've figured out a long time ago that its much easier to control people when we're all watching the same TV shows, listening to the same radio stations, going to the same movies, eating the same food and speaking the same language.

They will never bring back the sigs. Achronos believes that they clutter up the forums. I don't even look at sigs anymore.

Which is the exact reason why they should come back into the actual forum. They may be clutter, but they are useless if they aren't where you can see them.

I don't know. It might just be that I've matured a bit somewhere at some point, but I find myself reading posts at a lot more to get to know the person than say "Oh, that's the guy with that signature.."

Im not saying I want it back, just that is the point of what he is saying. No one looks at them in their current locations, so they should be put back. But IMO, i like it without them...

Exactly. Maybe we have them to have some feeling of individuality even though no on ever looks at them? Or so we don't feel insecure?

You say tomato; I say potato.

I miss the in-your-face sigs and the "member since: date". I miss 'em so much I can hardly contain my emotions.

If it makes you feel better, I read the sigs from time to time.

But seriously, on other forums the sigs take up so much space it is rediculous. There will be one person (at least) that makes the sig ginormous and spams every thread. I can't have that.No sirree bob.

It just takes up space, just move your mouse over the picture.

That is the reason behind a character limit. The limit here is I think 200-250 characters.

No way! The sigs are perfect where they are. I don't have to look at them unless I want to, which I don't... except those few times I do.

I am a proud user of correct spelling and grammar.

Here is what I've come up with for a sig design and as far as what happens when you highlight someone's avatar.

Here is that idea in an actual Forum scenario.

I'm going to have to give an enthusiastic "no thank you" to the idea of forum signatures visible by default. I just can't see the justification behind text repeated at the end of every individual's post. It is pointed out that nobody reads forum signatures as they are, which means generally that people aren't interested. If people are not interested enough to manually check what someone else has in their signature, why should the forum then accommodate those who are determined to push this text in everyone's face, whether those people want to see it or not?

In all honesty, I really didn't like the idea of getting rid of signatures when the site was updated. The "roll over your avatar with your mouse" signature was (and still is) pretty cool, but it wasn't the old B.net. After a while I got used to this new B.net and I gotta admit, I like it A LOT better than the old version. I actually read the quality of the posts that user's create, rather than reading a post, but noticing their signature more. I now judge the poster by their posts, rather than their signature.

Don't send me group invites.

I'm too lazy to have anything else here, sorry if you are now disappointed.

I miss the old sig, yet don't. It was easier to recognize people but there was a lot of spam. I rarely update mine anymore now. I just don't care at all.
