After being an XBox owner for nearly 2 years, I finally hooked it up to the network and am using a free 2-month trial. I played some XBL at a friends and realized that I have been missing out on a lot of fun. I vowed never to get into the online gaming because I'm the type to get easily addicted to these types of things. Hopefully I can pace myself :).

I really have been living in a cave though. I've really only played campaign and a little bit of split-screen multiplayer. I've managed to beat both games on legendary all the way though, but nothing compares to the level of difficulty or fun-factor to playing online.

I guess I have a few questions regarding Halo 2 online and XBL in general:
1. Can anyone point me to a good faq on Halo 2 (specifically online play)? Maps, strategies, etc...
2. Where can I find a reasonable priced headset for the original XBox?
3. I've been playing some of the team slayer but I keep running into 3 or 4 friends or clanmates against me and 3 other random strangers. Should I hold off of team ladder play until I find some people to play with in a party?
4. I have been reading these forums and hearing things about BXB, BXR, super-jumps, etc. Are these legal parts of the game which should be taken advantage of and where can I get more information about them if so?
5. Has anyone else had problems linking your gamertag with your MSN ID? Does it have anything to do with the free-trial?

Thanks for all your help in advance.

Halowiki.net is good for starters and I will be your coach:) Just send me a Friend Request at l ToXiC ChAoS l saying you are the kid who needs help. I am one of the "better players" of this game. Don't trust him \/\/\/. He is a noob. Also most of the people on Bungie.net are not that good:(

1. http://nikon.bungie.org/ This has some good stuff. Look for the strategy guide. I think it's called NSCS strategy guide, but I'm not sure.
http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page This is interesting as well.

2. I'd just look on Ebay or go to a gamestore (they might still have some) like Gamestop or something.

3. Not really sure.

4. Several posts (and there have been legion) about glitches have been interrupted by forum moderators who state that glitches are considered cheating. However the only way that glitchers can be "caught" by Bungie is if we the fans report them. People do them all the time, but the official word from Bungie is that they are cheating.

5. I didn't have any trouble, but I think it automatically bumped me to a gold membership (and scheduled an automatic payment to my credit card). So I guess, I don't know the answer to your question.

Hope this helps, and enjoy H2 on XBL!!!!!!

.:If It HuRtS iT wOrKs:.

1.dunno
2.you cant unless you already have a 360 headset which ffor me have been great but for a normal one you might hace to go into stores and buy the full on XBL starter pack (12 month subscription and headset)
3.if you always by yourself maybe try FFA gametypes or unranked gametypes
4.Yes it is legal but i dont think you can use it in official tournaments and just google BXR AND BXB
5.nope ive had no probs with mine. i dont know if a trial has anything to do with it but try linking it through B.net or www.xbox.com

Thanks Toxic. Hopefully I will catch you when you are on sometime. I've been sitting down for "a couple games" off and on this last week and it ends up lasting a couple hours or more each time, lol.

Thanks for the helpful and friendly feedback everyone. It's always nice to ask simple questions and get honest answers instead of being flamed.

If you're fighting fair, your tactics suck!

Welcome to live. *adds another number to the chalk board*

1: I dont know. Im shure if you ask around or just ask other ppl they/it can tell you.
2: Walmart i think i got my old one for a cheap 20 (Since teh old xbox isnt as "New" any more its probly cheaper.
3: depends if your..... the guy who wants a team that knows eachother and and cooperate smoothly. or the guy who goes into MM and out rights starts to carry your team. ( i eat souls)
4: BXR BXb and all that are button glitches, used by ppl who try to act pro and use a glitch to help them win. superbounces are were you croutch in a certain corner and land in a certain spot and you some how jump extremly high (Uses by any one who cannot win playing fairly)
5:idk
(looks up) ty forum users can be a little harsh with no---Uh...Noob= new player.....*looks around* Nevermind, any way users tend to find it amusing to flame any one who makes a certain topic that makes no sense or misspells somthing.

1. To learn good strategies, you really can't learn from a website. You really just have to play it, see what others do, and if it seems to work, then try to emulate their strategies and moves. And don't be afraid to try stuff in a game. I have won a number of games when trying some crazy things on Lockout. If you see someone do something, then go into a custom game with just you and try it yourself.
2. Just go to a Gamestop or some other gamestore.
3. Until you are used to playing online and against that caliber of player as opposed to the campaign ai, you're better off sticking to FFA. Once you get used to online, go into team games. You don't need to go in with a party, I often don't, but if you do, you are more likely to win, as you will know your allies strategies, strengths, and weaknesses, and you will play better with people you know. If you go in without a party, it all depends on who you get matched with. Some people play to win, some just to mess around. And pray you don't get matched with a de-ranker.
4. Button glitches such as BXB, BXR, RRX, and others, along with superjumps (aka superbouncing) are against the rules, and people will leave feedback for you cheating if you do it. However, Bungie has no way of detecting such cheating unless they are in a game with you.
5. I had no problem, but I did it through the XBox 360 dashboard, but you said you had an original XBox, right? I don't think there should be a problem, but I have never done it.

And just a tip: know the maps. Be able to run to any weapon spawn, get to anywhere on the map, and basically do everything with your eyes closed. If you have to be facing the direction you are walking to know you are not about to fall off, you won't do well. Learn the maps. Play well. Good luck.

Thanks for the offer. I might try and sink my teeth into learning the maps, spots, and strategies before trying out the button combos ;). I need to crawl before I walk then maybe run later.

1. For XBL, I think Bungie has one, I'd look at it since it'll probally be the best.
2. I'd try Circuit City or EBgames, any game shop really, compare their prices.
3. I play by myself, and I suggest you do, defently for games like double Teams. Some kids will argue that they can't play, only play with close friends who don't act like 4 year olds.
4. I don't think they are, but they make you look like a no skilled idiot. Using them in games is really just saying you cant play fairly.
5. I think it takes long, not sure. My brother did once, but all it adds is a Bungie.net in your Gamertag, and the ability to see yor gamertag on B.net, so I'd say your choice.
