When the -blam!- hits the fan and your recon op goes south, there are only 2 things you can rely on in Halo 2 MP. Your gun, and your team. If you have a bad team, you're done. So, my question is, what role will you play in the Live arena?

All of the above. I will assume command of my team (if people don't like it, then they can leave, I'm playing on my servers for the most part), and I will conquer all of those that stand in my way. If my team sucks, then I will live with it and carry their corpses off the battlefield. Bsaically I do not restrict myself to one form of combat so that I can confuse the enemy as to the threat they are dealing with.

Me: "OMFG, Dude... wtf!"
AbolitionofMan: "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to betray you."
Me: "That's the 4th time in this game alone!"
Chris: "Third, besides he had the flag I was trying to stop him, how was I supposed to know you were there."
Me: "I said, 'I got the Flag, don't shoot.'"
Chris: "Well those Wraith shots take a while to reach you."
Me: "You were right next to me, I had killed him and a minute passed before you decided to shoot."
Chris: "Hahahahaha, yeah... that was great."

Sniper and Support.... I think they are one in the same personally. My secondary role is Close quarters, though my teammates are better and point blank range so that's thier cup of tea. Mine is covering fire and reaching out and touching someone at 400+ yards.

I try to keep the enemy guessing - I'm fairly versatile when it comes to combat, but my two constants are my love for powerful single shot weapons and close, personal combat. The shotgun is my holy grail. Only thing I was never any good at was driving the tank. The Ghost is far more powerful.

well, I will probably end up being the close quarters guy. All of my teammates like being snipers so I am usually the bait. Lure the enemy out in the open them WHAPO!

But I will perform all of the roles depending on where I am needed the most.

I generally do all of these things. I'm pretty good with the pistol and sniper rifle, good with grenades, good at close combat, great ghost/tank driver, and pretty good at sneaking around. Most of my friends specialize in one or two things, so in order to do at least pretty well against them, I have to do a little bit of everything.

I've always been the tactician. My friends always scoffed when I mentioned I was the most technically proficient among them until we started tallying our stats from every game. Though I rarely win slayers I often boast a three kills to my every death in game.

I pick and choose my battles, taking into account all the factors and either press or retreat as needed.

Considering that, my role would likely be Squad Leader. Now this would dictate a support position because being taken out of combat and forced to respawn back at base makes it more impossible to access the situation and issue commands. You want to be able to aid your team without being drawn into the thick of things.

I go after/kill the nearest thing I see, whether it is with a sniper rifle or a shot gun.

I'll do a bit of everything! I am good at short and medium range, but my strongest aspect is my sniping! I'll usually be standing at a midway point in the map giving my flag bearer covering fire so he can get back! But I also make a good getaway driver, but usually whenever I grab the flag its when the rest of my teammates are dead and the opposition thinks no-ones left when they hear "Red team has the flag!"

i can't vote. there's no kamikaze option (go in shooting no matter what happens). otherwise i like to use rockets when i can get my hands on them.

I guess I'm best suited as a shock trooper, the assault rifle and plasma pistol were my best allies in Halo, so I'm looking forward to the SMG's. I really can't wait to get my hands on the battle rifle either, for some mid-range popshots as well as the three round bursts for up close.

Almost exactly like me!!! Except I'm a sick get-away driver too. But I voted for support, because I'm always following the lead guy and watching his/her six...but when it comes to driving, I hope in behind the wheel and put on my EAT THIS bumper sticker. Also, I have a sticker on my Segway that says, "My Other Car is a PUMA!".

Oh, your post was beautifully written.
