Its the fastest, but the AR melee is wider. How fast the melee is doesn't really matter anyway.if you're confident in your melee aim you shouldnt care how wide the range is; i care more about how many i can get off in succession for fighting more than one person

I wouldn't use pistol for that because if I'm going to melee someone, I'd rather use the AR than the pistol. So if my melee doesn't kill them, I can easily kill them with the AR after.i think we are talking about different situations here....im thinking of some dude running around with no shield, which gun would you rather use to shoot him and finish him off: the pistol or AR? im saying pistol because it's a simple one shot kill to the head rather than AR spraying which would def take longer

But the PR is way easier to use. The PR does everything the PP does (minus the Overcharge) but you don't have to pull the trigger like a madman to do it. Also, I'm 99% sure that the PR's melee has a further reach. The PP is better than the shotty at anything besides pretty much point blank range, which is the only range you should be using a shotty to begin with.just because the PR is easier doesn't mean it's a better gun. that's what i've been saying all along, people love the AR because it's easy to use, but once you get good with other guns it becomes obsolete. the same goes for the PR, it's easier to use than the PP but it doesn't do everything the PP does. the PP shoots faster and melees faster, but requires more skill since you need to pump it like a madman. but get good at it and you can dominate.
of course your first priority is getting good with the pistol, obviously
but one of my favorite gametypes was FFA slayer on prisoner b/c i could run around the ground floor just dominating with PP and nades.
the best practice to see if you're good with the PP is to circle a ghost or some stationary object shooting the same spot as fast as you can. if you can circle, pump, and aim all at the same time, then move on and try the same drill with a friend who is moving. that gets you good at leading the bolts so they actually land as hits. get good and you will never touch the AR again, because you'll either be using pistol, PP, or a power weapon like snipe or rocket.
