Inside the Mind of Halotitan Help me get expand my mind.

I'm sick of posting a topic in whatever forum I'm in, and for no reason people have to be hateful towards me. This community is in a rapid downfall because of people who do this. I've moved from the Halo 3 forum to the flood, and now I have no desire to post in the flood. Maybe I should just come to B.Net for the updates. Has anyone else felt like this recently?

Halo3Planet, the place for all things Halo 3..

Need help finding skulls, make sure to go here.

Not really. I don't like the people who are mean about it, but I'm sure that most of them are just trying to be helpful. If you want to avoid this, make sure you know where to post what, and you'll have no problems.

EDIT- Nevermind, I misread your post. Yes, I have noticed that people in the community are being more hostile, but with that, there are more good members. Private chapters are also a good place to go.

My posts are always in the right place, but most of my subjects can be discussed in depth and many people tend to take it out of hand. Thank you for your advice.

I got really mad once because I posted harmless nostalgia that I thought people might be interested in. I made a World War II website in junior high (almost 8 years ago) and I found it in an old database. I posted it and made a thread in The Flood saying how nostalgic it was to me and if they had any experiences like that. I'm a programmer and my company does web design so seeing my first real website from junior high brought back some cool memories. People ignored the whole post and thought it was a website I just made. They just clicked the link and then clicked reply to tell me how much it sucked. I learned my lesson that day. Never again will I post something like that and expect people to be nice. My skin hardened to the stiffness of steal after that. The whole thread became a war between me and the internets. *shudders*

PS - Good call coming to the B.net community forum though. The only place you'll ever be well received is here. I love this forum.

PSS - Nevermind.

If this is how your commonly received on Bungie.net, then do not post here anymore. You're obviously not welcome or wanted here on this site.

*sigh*

Anyone but Foman. He smells like cheese.

HaloTitan, don't be discouraged. Some users simply enjoy getting a rise out of others, rather than contributing to discussion. Ignoring them is almost always the best policy.

Ok i know what this is about. Halo Titan, you have to learn how to differentiate people teasing you and people being straight up mean, especially if you are going to be in the AF or the militairy in general. People from other branches will always claim that their branch is the superior one and you will have to get used to taking crap and maintaining a straight face.
You can always ignore it or back up your case with good arguments, complaining wont get you anywhere though.

Incorrect. Unless you're joking, you're sorely mistaken.

Bungie.net should be open to all. Flaming sucks, immaturity sucks, people who act like jerks suck, but it happens.

My first night of the Flood I got flamed yeah. But I didn't flame back, I just tried to ignore it. Keep posting, and keep being logical, and you'll be treated as such. The forum isn't that bad that good posters will always be flamed. However, to get "popularity points" you have to post a lot of low quality posts that tend to deride topics. But that's just the Flood being the Flood.

Halo 3 forum has and always will be a flame fest. Just reading some of the posts actually makes me upset, then I realize how stupid it is to be angry at some text written by someone I don't know and will never meet. You sometimes have to put things into perspective at times, especially on this site.

Don't let your bad experiences detract you Halotitan. You'll find your way. Just be yourself, no matter what anyone says. There are plenty of good people at Bungie.net, you just have to know where to look :-)

And there's always the Septagon. You'll rarely find random flaming and spam here.

Thanks, I try to employ that reasoning when it comes to dealing with people like that. However I tend to defend the things I care about and that can cause trouble. My first blacklisting (out of two) was for defending something someone was attacking and I would up getting out of hand. Ignoring people is the best thing I've done, but I'm still never happy to come across people like that.

Trying something once will increace your chances of success, because you tried it. Try someting twice, and your chances increase yet again - seeing as you've done it. Try something a few thousand times, and your chances of success is exponentially increased; this increase would likely provide success every time

Titan, I have one recommendation, get in good with people. That's how and why I rarely get flamed or disrespected, even to this day. Get in good with the people that are respected amongst the entire community, and you yourself will become respected. I hate to say this, but it is true. Besides, after a while you may get to like them even if they are spammers and flamers; as I have.

Well, The Septagon (here) is usually the best about behavior. ;) Hang out here, more? But I'd go with what Foman said.

Ignoring them is the best thing to do. You'll get plenty of intelligent responses among the bad. You shouldn't let some kid saying "You suck!" discourage you. Be a man! ;)

All was shattered, and all but memory lost, and one memory above all others, of him who brought the Shadow and the Breaking of the World. And him they named Dragon.

What Foman said. Just ignore them, and they will (hopefully) give up the spamming.

Don't send me group invites.

I'm too lazy to have anything else here, sorry if you are now disappointed.

It gets worse and worse as time goes on. The arrival of Halo 3 will not make things any better. Try your best to steer away from spam. It's hard to become popular though (at least in the Flood) when you hide in a corner. Most importantly, be yourself.

Yes, always be yourself (unless you are a troll). If people don't like it then ignore them. You don't gain any kudos by feeding the trolls.

I'm not trying to be "popular". How can you possibly be popular in a video game forum.

For a short time I visited the official Elder Scrolls forms, I found that there was almost no flaming, at all, ever. I think that many of the problems have to do with the fact that is site is popular due to Halo, and generally, Halo fans are immature, no matter what their age.

Ouch, oh noz!!!!

Stereotyping and generalizing is bad.... bad, bad, bad. (Forces Gzalzi to do push-ups until he repents his puerile remark)

Hey, why don't you try joining a group? People never flame, and if they do, it's friendly. I have an easier time posting in the groups, I always get good responces, without worrying about a flamer.

WRYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

The majority of people in forums such as H2, H3 and the Flood are idiots. More so H3 than others. I guess this is becuase the only reason they come to B.net is becuase they want to find out about H3, as soon as H3 is out they should be gone. I find it's best to not post in the same thread as them. Or if there being really annoying I'd report them.

A prime example of an idot he's been flaming in most threads lately.
