I don't usually get flamed (much) but what I do get is people correcting my spelling/grammar and being jerks while doing it, you know stuff like "it's not colour you moron" stuff like that, nothing terribly serious. I never seem to see flaming, maybe it's just me, it may also be because I have a pretty good tolerance of idiots, trolls and flamers so don't tend to pick up on it much.
Don't worry about being flamed, it's not you that's in the wrong (usually). I would also suggest that anything that is said on the internet should be taken with a pinch of salt. Most often it's not very serious, even if it seems to be. It's the way the people in The Flood are (I assume you're predominantly talking about the flood btw) like that, that's the way that strange popularity system in The Flood goes, you have to degrade other members. I think it's kind of pathetic being a jerk to people you don't know over the internet. That said I am always a jerk to people I don't know over the internet.
As for things you can do to avoid being flamed, try using the search feature for repeat topics etc before posting new threads (I'm not saying you don't already do this btw)
Now then, the Halo 3 forum, I never post in there. I read, but I don't post! The crazy theories that are posted there are facinating and I am 'Getting Hyped' about Halo 3 most definately, but they aren't tolerant of people who don't keep up with the latest thing. There are also hundreds of repeat topics which drive me crazy. Not to mention that most of the people there don't really know what they're talking about (at least IMO) and for some reason are willing to fight tooth and nail using Ad hominem arguements to illustrate their theories and ravings.
