Hey guys, I wrote a big write up on last years E3, just about stuff people were wondering about and stuff that was confusing and such. But I decided to do it again for this year's, so here it is. Hope you enjoy!

Halo 2_MP Demo_E32004
Video analyzing by Arkangel06

First, let’s look at the basics. In the current build of Halo 2, the SMG has a 60-round clip. The clip is the bar located on the left-hand side of the gun. The Battle Rifle has a 36-round clip. Hopefully you know where that clip goes.
From what I saw in the video, if you run into something while driving, you will take damage. If you look where Max is coming towards Joe with the Ghost (showing off the boost feature), he runs into a rock. Now look closely, and you can see that his shields flare up. From what I saw, you will take no damage whatsoever for getting booted out of a vehicle (I saw in another video you will take damage from getting hit with vehicles instead of just dying. The harder the hit, the more health you lose). Also, the vehicles that are destroyed do disappear. In the demo, when the warthog runs into the ghost and blows it up, a minute and 40 seconds go by before it disappears. Don’t know why this is valuable info. Just thought you might like to know.
There, of course, will be many more messages displayed for kills. Along with the classic “you killed…” shown at the demo, we also saw, “You splattered…” and “You beat down…” My speculation is that the messages aren’t picked at random, they are used according to something, but I don’t know for sure what it is. Either each weapon kill has its own message(s) (unlikely), or the message depends on the type (or intensity) of your kill. For instance, “You splattered Wort” was shown when Joe shot the rocket which made Max run into the Ghost causing that insane explosion scene. “You beat down Wort” was used when Max was… well… beat down with the lunge-attack of the energy sword.
The energy sword kill also showed something I didn’t like. If you watch the Elite’s body after the kill, after sliding about 5-10 feet, he flips over. This was most likely due to preset animations for an energy sword death, but an accidental combination of two. I don’t know about you, but I was hoping for a more rag doll-implemented physics system in Halo 2.
A lot of curiosity arose over the health bar in the demo. A few speculations were that a) The health is there, you just can’t see it or b) In Halo 2, Master Chief does not have health, just a shield (crap). I came up with my own possibility: You know how in Halo:CE multiplayer, there is an option to turn shields off so you just have health? Well I was thinking maybe the opposite feature is available in Halo 2, no health, just shields. After watching the SMG-Needler kill in the demo, I saw that after his shield was completely down, there was about one more second of Joe shooting before he went down. Now I think one second of an SMG and a Needler pumping your enemy full of lead (and needles) is enough to bring a full bar of health down to nothing, considering you have no shields. Ok, I saw some more video cam footage of different people playing, and their deaths show no indication of health after shields. UPDATE: Just saw another video. Right after getting his shield all the way down, the next shot kills him. I guess there was no health.
Ok, I was going to submit this now, but I thought I would take a stab at one of the new screenshots. Check out the one titled “E304_EliteOverlook”. I have noticed a couple of things. I labeled the super hi-res pic (2560x1920, compared to the usual 1600x1200). I can im this pic over aim or email it if you want it. I saw a couple of things that stood out. First of all, I’m pretty sure the main smoke trail going down the middle of the screen is a tank shell. It has to be. It could be from a rocket launcher (hand-held or Warthog-mounted), but the trail isn’t that big, and I just thought it could be a sniper rifle, but that doesn’t explain the explosion on the end. For those who don’t know what the strange bolts and lights are towards the bottom-right of the page are, they are the trails and bolt from the ghost. I wrote up a big thing on what it could be, and then Trevor comes over and shuts me up. And am I the only person who is dissatisfied with Halo 2’s water? I could have sworn someone said the water was going to be kick-ass, and I wasn’t too impressed, no offense.
Okay, was going to submit again, but found another thing to talk about. I thought everyone should be briefed on the icon system. I am going to try and find the update, but one of them talked about incorporating more icons for notices and such into the HUD and UI. These were shown off at the demo. Here are some (All icons appear directly under the reticule.)
Low ammo- Blue icon with three bullets, obviously means “Reload” (this was shown for low ammo on the Battle Rifle)
Tracking- Pops up when your rocket is tracking a vehicle. Blue icon with three dots (…)
Flag- Has two different icons (this is what I came up with, I'm pretty sure it’s accurate)
Red Icon- Your flag has been taken by the enemy
Orange Flag- Your flag has been dropped by the enemy
(I'm guessing the icon goes away completely when the flag is returned to your base)
There is another orange icon that has a picture of a single bullet. Since I saw it when the guy had a Needler and an SMG, and it came on when the SMG was low on ammo, I'm assuming it is telling you one of your weapons is low. Ok, that’s it for now. Hope you enjoyed it!

when the elite is hit with the sword, and he goes flying, he hits a pair of needlers on the ground. that could make him flip over.

I could see a slight tumble maybe, but getting air and doing a barrel roll? I don't think so.

It's in the screenshots section of this site. It's the one where the elite is looking at the beachfront of Zanzibar from high up.

when it says you got splatterd it means you got run over by a vehicle. I read this from a review.
