XBOX 360
All other games work fine

After playing for several hours on Sunday, I sat down to play again Monday night. After a few minutes in the menu, the game froze. The dashboard would not come up, either. I rebooted the 360.

Deleted gamer profile. Again, frozen.

I swapped in a clean, never used hard drive. Though I did not have my live account on it, I was able to go into the game, play single play for a few minutes (which I couldn't do before..I could start the game if I did it quick enough, but a few seconds in and it would freeze again) and navigate the menus.

I cleaned off all Halo 2 related files on the old hard drive and popped it back in. I downloded the new maps again and tried once more. Frozen. In my haste, I did not test to see if the issue was corrected with the map packs removed from the drive.

CD is clean and is playable beacuse I can use it with the empty hard drive. Something on the other disk seems to be messing me up. The other common denominator is the Live account. I was not signed on using the empty HDD.

Any ideas? Anybody experience the same thing?

Thanks for the help!
Jon

um... get somebody to lend you there memory card and transfer your profile over to that, then back to the clean drive, that might work

whoa maybe....try a new halo disk?

Whoa...maybe the CD isn't the problem, especially because there isn't an issue when I use another Hard Drive?

I would whole heartedly switch to another drive, if it wasn't for the fact that Live binds to the HDD ID and Hardware ID of the 360 for purchased Live Arcade games. I'd be out of luck with ever using them again.

Suppose that's what I'm forced to do. Thanks for the suggestions!

It's not the Halo disk; if I swap hard drives I don't have the problem.

Apparently Microsoft has a button sequence from the System Menu that will clear the game cache from the drive (game updates, etc.) without deleting clearing it entierly. I'm gonna try that before I start playing with multiple drives every time I want to play Halo.

This is exactly what happened to me about 4 hours before my 360 RRoD'd. I fear your Xbox might be on its way out, my friend.

You are absolutely right sir, and it's the outcome I expect but hope won't materialize :(
