Now we all know thermal vision would take away from halo because being able to see what lies in the next room takes away from some of the fear and jumpiness in halo. Night vision could work in MC's new suit because it was in the SR. Any way what if elites and some other covies such as hunters were cold blooded they wouldnt be picked up on thermal vision because they are the same temperature as their surrounding you could only pick up a few covies such as jackals.

The Sniper rifle is nightvision, not thermal for the first part.

For the second part... as logical as it would be for the Chief's visor to have new viewing features I wouldn't want it. I like the flashlight struggling to push away the encroaching darkness. There's a lot of strategy involved in when to use the light and when not to. I was playing silent hill at one point and it was so pitch dark I couldn't see... but I could hear... I knew there were creatures all about me. If I bumped into one it was all over BUT if I switched the light on they'd all know exactly where I was. That was awesome.

But this game isn't silent hill either and yes I know night vision is on the sniper not theramal point is its there and in the year 2552 and what is the point of hiding in the shadows after shooting out lights if you have to turn on a flashlight to see anything night vision would make sense for this but not like the night vision in rainbow 6 that helped you see better no mater what night vision that if you turned it on in a bright room it blinded your sceen bright green so you couldn't see anything. One of the key things about halo was the abbility to choose your battles and they are adding this element even more to the game with the ability to hid e in the shadow and peek around corners but still in pitch black if you want to sneak up on a covie and give him a wap night vision is the thing to use because the enemy wont be able to see it.

True... BUT with real night-vision there is a glow around your eyes and on the front of the lenses caused by the filiments and stuff that make it work so it would be more realistic to have like in the harder levels to have a greater chance of being seen if you have night vision on while in the shadows

I hated Silent Hill. Too many puzzles, and yes, tooo scary. God that radio going all staticky FR34K3D me out. That's what I like about Halo. Got some scary monsters? Whip out your 8 gauge shotgun and four frags!

it wouldnt work, the game would basically turn into rainbow 6 3, now we dont want that do we, we want all the action left in,no stealth, halo was about all out war and halo 2 should be too, it's what made it such a fun game!

the comment about being cold blooded was retarded... the blood isn't literally cold, it just doesn't heatr itts elf. so unless the covies stayed in one position for a long time, they'd still stick out. and anyway, the covenant were two fast to be cold blooded. movement exhibitied by the covenant races can't be copied by cold blooded animals as they are, for the most prat, slow and lethargic, except in bursts,. also if the covies were cold blooded, they'd never have been able to survive in both AOTCR and 343 GS. retard

What if they did it like in Aliens Vs. Predator 2? The nightvision is effective, but it drains your battery faster than a grunt can run with 3 Spartans after him.

I don’t think thermal/night vision (except for the sniper rifle) would work in halo. It should be kept in games like metal gear and splinter cell.

Any of you even played AvP2 ever? Even though there is a nightvision mode I rarely use it, and that game is pretty damn scary if you ask me.

Congrats on typing that whole post useing only two periods!
I think the covie carbine should have thermal vision, but turning it on would use up the battery power of the gun, not your suit. So you could use it, but you'd get less shots.

I posted this somewhere before but here goes:

Nightvision - 2x flashlight power usage
Thermal - 3 - 4x power usage

and you would still have the flashlight if you need light but not stealth, or you just want to preserve your battery (which would take 30 seconds to recharge in which time the shields recharged at a slower rate.)

Well, there's my idea on how to balance these things. There's also other things that could be done, like making Elite and Hunter armor block heat signatures, etc...

I think there should be directional motion, thermal, EMP, seismic, and x-ray scanners and radar on the MJOLNIR. The suit computer would interpret the data and display it all simultaneously using a color-coded HUD with smart labels.

That was a serious take. You think you'd be confined to night vision and thermal vision that run out incredibly fast 500 years in the future? Soldiers have better equipment today. It wouldn't even effect gameplay too seriously; it's not like you can't see a Covie's plasma bolts and the sniper rifle's contrail.

I dont think that it should be in the game but MC does have a thermal visor and his eyes have automatic nightvision when its dark enough. For proof read the books.

Yeah but Halo is the most equal game ever. With no sniper rifle trail or tank trail they would be way overpowered, and all weaknesses and slow ass rockets and lots more. But if you could have thermal vision that would be awsome but it would only work in Sp with some aliend cause MC's armour isnt the temp of his body. Even nowaday there is better equipment than thermal goggles and there is already suits you can wear so your invisible to thermal imageing.
