What rank are you? Just so we don't tell you crap you already know. How many people in each match? For example, is it 1v1 matches, or literally every man for himself (always hated the FFA abreviation, sounds like were talking about farming). Honestly, while they say to practice, there's certain things that you should probably pay special attention too, like figuring out what your weaknesses are, and looking at certain tactics and how to beat them. I have a friend who for some reason doesn't even play before he goes to tourneys or invites people over for halo. It's annoying with the "No fair, I'm still trying to remember the controls." Also, make sure you have every setting just the way it is on your xbox at home. People at tourneys would love to steal a free kill while your changing settings, beleive me, they don't feel guilty about it at all. Keep track of the power weapons, if only to keep them from enemy hands. Even if for example you were to suck at sniping, try it. It'll keep it outta' their hands and use up the ammo in case they were to take it from you.
Actually Ix ReX xI's link it really good. You should definitly check it out.
