Subject: Wondering about old projects and looking for answers

I have been looking through some of the old topics in the forums and one that I came across stood out to me. The karma system. I could not find any information on it being used or launched, just a lot of talk about how it was still a ways off. The most recent things I read about it were from January of last year. If anyone has any information about it please let me know. Yes I know that I am a little behind the times, I didn't become a member of this site until about a year ago, that is why I am kinda playing catch up and trying to learn as much as possible. Any help and info would be great.

Why do people in ship mutinies always ask for "better treatment"? I'd ask for a pinball machine, because with all that rocking back and forth, you'd get a lot of free games.

Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words - "mank" and "ind". What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.

yeah, not gonna happen >_>

Why not I just want to know what ever became of it. Is it being used, or still developed? Was it scrapped? It sounded to me like a good idea, but I have yet to see anything that leads me to think that it ever got past the idea stage. I am just looking for any information about it that I can find.

This topic was huge, if I recall correctly it was considered a bad idea because of the massive amount of traffic on B.net. The Karma system could be abused (this one for the one controlled by the members). As for the ones controlled by mods it was considered an extra step that was unnecesary since all that needed to be done was to ban the offender.

Overall, it was considred to elitest. It would give people a reason to put down others because they had a higher "title" or "rank" in the forums. Which is the reason now that the date you joined B.net isn't displayed. People wore it like a badge that gave them the right to be a jerk. The same would happen in a karma system.

Fight hard, break bones >{o

well the karma system is used on other sites and it always fails. that was a big factor in bungie not using it.
