So I have come to the conclusion that i have spent more time looking at a blue screen with the words 'connecting to server' than actual gameplay time. Why do people feel the need to quit a game? Every match at least one person is leaving, sometimes and entire team. If you are looking for a specific gametype why don't you just go start a custom game? It is out of control. There should be a penalty box for people who leave early. Maybe a 5 min. penalty where you can't start another game for that length if you left a prior game early. Something to stop all of these people.

I find it funny too, when someone is losing a game they leave right before the game ends, if the score is 49-30 and they are on the 30 side, they sign out right before the last kill. What are you doing? You trying to prove some kind of point? All of you who leave early should try making your point with your gun not the 'leave game option' in the menu.

I used to have a lot of fun in Halo 2, now i am just not so sure anymore.

For the latter -
people quit at the end of the game to avoid the trash talk in the post game lobby (they obviously cant hit b fast enough?)

For the former -
I often wonder myself and agree there needs to be a penalty, like banning of xbl tag. (well maybe thats a lil harsh... :D)

People quit because they would lose even if they would stay. WOuld you stick around for a 1 on 4 game of oddball? No. You have no chanc eof winning. When you had your team it was still 2:15 to :13.
I do hate people who quit just because theyre losing by 4.

What i meant by the quit at the end thing, it is typically the guy who has the most kills on the losing team that does it. I guess it doesn't matter, it is all rediculous.

In reply to Wreck, that one last guy on the team isn't the problem, it is the other three i am talking about that allready quit on him.

If you quit and your team loses you still lose experience. You lose the amount of experience that person who would be in your spot loses.
Same goes for winning.

I hate when ppl quit when we are WINNING.

but yeah good point when ppl quit when your losing by a minute of time, or like 10 kills thats annoying because NO ONE IN THE WORLD has ever come back from that deficit.

Im aware.
My point still stands though. They quit because they would lose anyways.

All i am saying is just play the game. And for the love of God, stop betraying 10 times than leaving your team with a -10 start score.

Agreed.
My point comes still through. Theres no point to keep playing a game if you have no chance of winning.

Yeah, i started playing a lot of swat just in hopes that unranked would be a little better with the quitters. It isn't. I see your point wreck, I am just venting though, the sitting around twiddling my thumbs while i am trying to reconnect thing is getting old.

  • 08.08.2007 3:14 PM PDT

i know what u mean, there were 30 seconds left in the game, we had 1 point less than the other team after killing someone on the other team. the guy spawns right infront of us and we shoot him but he quits after 3 of our shots, and then for the other 30 secs the other person is hiding. it just takes the fun out of the match 3 people had already quit in the match and i ussually dont go by a game without seeing someone quit too, and at the end of almost every game theres someone that quits after it says game over then we all go into blue screen for another minute when it would have taken a sec for it to go by normally. im also fed up of people quiting objective games after the first round because of the other team scoring, it was just one round!! win then make up for it next round!

im kind of a hipocryte.
I almost never quit a game. If you ever want to play with me, be my guest.
Im a good swat player so i can do that with you too. Ive kept a record of losses(because its not on bungie)
Ive lost 8 swat games out of 67.
Ill quit if the other team starts being noobs.
Noob combos, teabagging, not going in the hill, not picking up oddball, not scoring the flag, that will make me quit.

that's understandable. I am the same way with that. At that point though it is as if all those noobs allready quit the game.

I'm a First Degree Black Belt in Tang-Soo-Do, I love distance running and playing other sports. On my spare time I play video games. I'm a really nice guy, but when people attack me I have no choice but to attack back. I have no problem with nerds, but I HATE Halo nerds. I can't stand them. Halo is a game, not a way of life nor is it real.

Playing game types like Team Training sucks because 90% of the time the other team quits, I cant stand it! Im so glad that in Halo3 you lose RP points when you quit.

One of my Halo 3 montages.

quitting may suck, but if my team is playing horrible, i'm down by a lot, or i hate playing a certain map, i'll quit. i have that right and if i'm not having fun in the match then i won't play it. i hate playing warlock and elongation. i don't have fun on those maps ever, even if i'm not losing.

If you don't like the maps then start a custom game. Not liking the map is NOT a good reason to quit. There are a few that I hate playing but suck it up. It's not like the games last forever.

What if they dont like the map? and what if they dont feel like deranking?

*Storie time*
One night or day if you may A player named hedrought Invited his friend to play MM Team Snipers at 2:00 and played til 3:00.
Hedroughts kind friend invited some of his friends and they all went together and had a harsh series of team snipers of very very close games but in the end we would always win (barely) (our ranks were 14+ except mine was like 4 because I dont play snipers much... but at least I got 2nd place each time out of our team :[) ) But anyways hoping for a easy round each of us did and finally we got one. The map was burial mounds and we sniped them so easily as if they were jackal snipers on NORMAL. There pathetic attempts to kill us only got us to a 1 digit death ratio whiel theres was in the 2...
But things got vicious! in the end of the match the losers stayed to face there sorrow while my team trash talked them very deeply I had no part of it although because I am a quite nice person.

The moral of this story is that some people quit before the game ends because they dont want to face humilization afterwards IDK

I Deafeated the Flood on Alpha, I Defendend Earth in October, I Watched the Hierarchs die. I am Thor's Hammer

Professional Lurker!

I actually like when My team quits in Slayer games, Its always better to be on the smaller team :) i was playing a swat game, my entire team quit leaving me to face off against 4 others, I ended up winning 50-10 :P i got 13 double kills, 3 triple kills, 4 killtaculars and a killfrenzy :)

Freedom of Speech does not equal "Freedom from Consequences when one speaks".

It is a right, and all rights have responsibilities associated with them. Ignore the responsibility, and you tend to lose the right.
Recon Number 54

I think the main reason people quite these days is to de-rank, although I don't have an answer why they seem to quit unranked games so often. I'm running into more and more teams made up of one player with a level around 20-25 or so, and the three other members of his team in the 4-12 range. I know they're together because they talk like they know eachother, and usually quit together quickly after the game is over to avoid questions and scrutiny. I think they have multiple accounts, and take turns ranking up and de-leveling as they switch accounts so they can get matched against other teams with a lower average rank.

I believe the Banhammer looks for patterns like this, although I encounter it fairly often and it's frustrating. All the players on the teams I described are usually button-glitching as well (sometimes superjumping too), and there's no possible way to have a legitimate game.

I've read discussions of this topic before, and the most common suggestion is to force quitters to wait until that game is over before they can enter another. I believe this would cut down on it happening dramatically.

The other suggestion is a bit more radical, but it may come to this: only one account per machine. If you think about it, there's no GOOD reason to have multiple accounts for playing Halo. The temptation for the less scrupulous to abuse this privilege greatly outweighs any advantage. I hope Bungie considers this.

It is what it is...

Yeah, it bugs me, too. Some people only want to play to win... That's too bad!!!

lol

Those posts are pretty well thought out...it's amazing how many people didn't bother to read them, or didn't understand them.

A summary, since they're long.

1 - Remove the "Leave game option" in MM (not custom or campaign), this forces players to either stay in game or turn of the console/go to dashboard, inconveniencing them in return for inconveniencing everyone else in the game.

2 - Possible limit to quitting with repercussions afterwards.

3 - If you really have to leave (food, emergency), you can either leave your controller sitting there, or turn the system off.

Remember people, it might be your ~$100 for the game and live, but it's everyone else's $300-700(or more), and you're ruining their game.
