I'd Rather Be A Smartass Than A Dumbass

Colossus is all about controlling that Sniper. But don't snipe with it from the position where it spawned. Although it offers a good view of the map it is very exposed and you are unlikely to last long there. Instead take it down to the flag spawn for CTF games on either Red or Blue side.(Whichever doesn't have hordes of foes spawning in and around it.) Sniping from there with cover from a teammate or two but preferably your whole team holding down that area if you can get them to work together with you works a lot better as there more limited angles of approach by enemys and high visibility of your immediate surroundings.. However often when entering Matchmaking alone teammates are extremely unresponsive to efforts to estabilish some teamwork so be happy with one or two.

The next tip is to always retain control of the overshield it spawns exacty 60 seconds after it was last picked up. On Matchmaking games on Colossus you will have a timer counting down so you should be able to keep track of the timer and be there again the exact second it returns. If sniping from either Red or Blue side you will have easy access to it by just jumping off the edge. But do not send the player holding the Sniper down there as keeping the sniper is more important then retaining the overshield. Instead get a teammate to grab it and make their way back up.

If the gametype does not start you off with BR's (I'm not sure if there is an SMG start on Colossus in Matchmakaing.) Tthen you will want to grab as many of these as you can if your team has Br's and Sniper then all they have to come at you with is Shotguns and Dual Weilds. Needless to say you will have no problems picking them off before they get into range. BR locations on ths map are. On Red and blue base up the top at the back, On top of both the platforms on Red and Blue side which give a good view of the opposing side and probably some other places but I can't remember. Carbines are on the Red and Blue side ramps onto the Sniper spawn platform. In BR start gametypes the same tactics apply but you will have to watch out carefully for enemies as a bit of team effort shooting on the Sniper can bring them down fast. But you should still be able to hold that area down easily enough. Sniper will need to be quick to take out the first one or two before he comes under fire and is knocked out of scope. Try to shift your position a little between each assault as they will remember that the sniper was stood on the left side by the wall if you switch to the right side at the top of the ramp and a teammate stands on the left side by the wall. Then the next time they come at you they may lose a man or two before realising the Sniper has relocated as you are all the same colour and difficult to distinguish between instantly.

Shotgun is not much of a factor in such a large map if you are running past one of it's locations (Red and Blue side outside just to the side of the ramp up to the flag spawn or Sniper spawn at the back under the ramp resting up against the wall.) and you have a spare weapon you should pick one up just in case of any sudden encounters with a Dual Weilder or an enemy with another Shotgun leaping out at you. But you should never head off anywhere specifically to get one.

By desert map do you mean Burial Mounds? I have a really tough time controlling the map there myself, so I'd like to hear some ideas on that one.

My last thread: Why Reach Sucks

You need to control the sniper in both of them. That's the #1 priority

ok, im not sure if burial mounds can be played via slayer. For team snipers though, i would say to camp near the beam rifle spawn. Get like 2 people there 1 looking towards the ribs and the other looking at rockets/generator thingys. once you get somebody to superjump its pretty much an automatic win. the people on the map just call out targets for the guy out of the map. Also when the other team is shooting at the beam spawn from the generators, send 1 person through the ribs and in the base. From that view it is extremely easy to get kills or spawn trap them.

for colossus, just do what the previous guy said: control the sniper. Once you get the sniper bring it back to red or blue. (I usually go to the side with more enemies to get an early lead using the snipe =p). Once you have that sniper make sure eveery1 else has BRs and it shuld be an easy win. I never worry about the overshield, bcuz as soon as an opposing player picks it up, sum1 on my team will say where he's going and all four of us just shoot him up. 1v4, even with the overshield will never be a good outcome for him. Communication is also a huge factor in this map. ALWAYS make sure your teammates know where you are, and where the guy you are shooting at is.

I'd Rather Be A Smartass Than A Dumbass

I will begin racking my brains for tips for playing on Burial Mounds but I may need a little help on this one as I don't play the map often.
