Halo 3 Academy--join to learn, join to play, join to have fun.

Try sticking with one of your teammates at all times so you can team br any opponents you come across instead of it happening the other way around.

If you're going negative, hang back in the safest location and just provide a constant stream of fire to any enemy you see.

The best thing you can do is play with people you know. Its A LOT harder playing with random people.

In Hardcore (at least when not in the -blam!- maps with power weapons still in them) you need to rely on teamwork, get good teammates (if you don't know anyone, go fishing in matchmaking but don't expect to get people who will carry you) call out enemy locations and always listen to your teammates to do the same, its much easier to kill a guy w/o full shield otherwise your pitting yourself against who has host/can doubleshot/who shot first.

I'd Rather Be A Smartass Than A Dumbass

You would have to get specific tips for specific gametypes IMO sir.

Are there any gametypes you find more difficult than others in Hradcore?

CTF, Assault, Slayer etc etc.

Practice button combos alot. Get a 4v4 team going practice as much as you possibly can. hope for host. and team br make sure your team has a specific spot on the map to cover each and everyone of you. good luck.

if i go into hardcore with 3 friends i do a lot better. You just need to know what your teams skills are. with my team, we know who gets each weapon so we arent going around fighting to get a certain weapon.

At at 15+ level in any playlist, its best to go in as a team of 4 friends that know each others strengths and weaknesses. Its a huge difference.

the double shot is worthless in most situations. All you need to do is communiate with your teamates and play with people that communicate with you. It is amazing how well you will do if there are two people always telling you where they are.

What I do in pretty much every skirmish gametype except for one flag and one bomb, is get a kill first, and then go for the objective. Obviously, sometimes you need to use common sense, like if the whole enemy team is dead and you're next to the flag.. y'know.

Also, in Team Slayer, I tend to camp, wait for kills to come to me, so I have the advantage before I go out, that way I always go positive. You can check my stats if you like, I think it's a good strat for staying positive.

Kevin's post = breath of fresh air.
Take it from this guy people, he knows what he's talking about.

Second accounts are NOT cheating:

If you want to get a decent rank in THC you need a team. Teams with strats will almost always be able to beat randoms every time.

like every1 is saying teamwork is important and communication, try to go in with friends where u understand each other not with random ppl cause usually they suck more then ur team and pull u down to drown. u wanna get positive kills: know the map and use the knowledge to your advantage (like dont go in open when shield is down and hide near shelters and get ready to pop grenades, also when guy is chasing you go somewhere around corner and throw grenades so shield recharges) and pick your fights that you know you can win and try to improve you game by being able to kill two guys against you, if enemy has superior position flush em with grenades. Now if your not the type whos really good at fighting then play supporter ( go somewhere safe and when friend is fighting someone help him out) always combine firepower and dont stay close to your teammates try to be far a little and act like sniper or smoething. dont ever hunt down your enemies let them come to you unless they are doing same and are winning by like 4 points cause most certainly they will ambush you.

Skirmish wise try to kill most of the enemy and try to stay alive with you have four guys and they have two rush em. if you down by two then play D till you guys respawn. ge the kills more then objective espacially oddball contrate on guys more then the bal when three are dead get ball and make friends protect you well.

also try to formulate a set-up (you grab power weapons and bunker down in one part of map that gives you nearly all the map under you aimer) in each map, that helps greatly. if you can get a good setup then your pretty unstoppable assuming if your guys do the job.

well just get 2 or 3 friends to join ur party its a easy win like that and communicate! u gotta communiatce with ur team ( ex. P2 1 shot) and also in hardcore u get ctf and oddball alot so with ur party havbe the worst killer grab the oddball / flag and so the best killers can protect

Learn to button glitch, stay with your team, communicate, and whore the power weapons, even if the other team calls you "Rocket whoring noobs who suck at Halo 2", you still kicked their ass, and that's what matters.

That is everything that is wrong with Hardcore. I guess that is why it is called Hardcore. We had some kids pulling out every button glitch possible last night. They would have won by a large margin if it was slayer and not Oddball.

Double shots, quad shots, and BXRs do NOT win games. That is a common misconception that many bungie forum goers don't believe is true.

The best answer. It's all about the team. You have no idea how good the people you're going to play with are going to be. With a team, you know their skills and you obviously enjoy playing with them. It is also much easier to communicate.

You have to communicate. I have struggled in Hardcore also, mainly because my team and I are silent, so there's no way of knowing where the enemy is until I see my teammates icons go yellow or red, and by then its usually too late. Players in hardcore seem more skilled than in other playlists...I've gotten owned quite a bit in hardcore. But communication is key with no motion tracker. Someone also listed sticking with a teammate, that's good too. Just don't move too close because you'll be easy grenade bait.
