Alright. Here goes.

A week or so ago I was playing team slayer on terminal. The blue team was ruling us. I mean it was ridiculous the way these guys were moving. And They were tough to kill.... too tough. I hit a guy 3 times with melee and he didn't die. A time or two I was also behind and meleed and nothing happened, except he turned around and killed me. I figured little about it cause I was having lag issues that night and my team also had lag issues. But what really made me raise my eyebrow was when I was riding a ghost. I had the thrusters full and lined up and nailed this little blue schmuck from behind.

He didn't die! Instead, I flipped over and got ejected from my ghost. I fired an smg and finally got him.

Am I the only one this has happened to, or were these guys in fact cheating?

Freedom of Speech does not equal "Freedom from Consequences when one speaks".

It is a right, and all rights have responsibilities associated with them. Ignore the responsibility, and you tend to lose the right.

No, you aren't the only one this has happened to, and yes, it probably was cheating compounded by latency in your connection. I experience the same ridiculous things every time I play.

Moo

I'm not sure about the failed melees, but I can say that I've run into the same thing with the ghost. A head-on full speed burst into the opponent doesn't always splatter. I've also had issues with my ghost flipping or rolling slightly from the contact.

I'm not sure, but did overshields play a part into things?

I was chasing this guy up the ramp that leads to the sniper on lockout and i punched this guy 3 times in the back (i know they hit) then he turned around and punched me from front on once and it said he assasinated me......trust me your not the only one and that was about the time i had to put the control down or it was going through the tv

...and yet those who use button glitches claim that their use constitutes fair play. You get the jump on them, execute correct steps in order to guarantee a kill under ordinary circumstances, but they can -- in effect -- hit the rewind button and replay the sequence to their advantage (in the case of melees).
