Subject: Trouble with team snipers

I got to level 18(If I remember correctly) and I've hit a brick wall, I seem to lose almost every game.

I can't join with a party of friends, because they are either rubbish at halo or don't play altogether.

So does anyone have any tips for me to improve? Perhaps some simple stuff that I'm missing.

If you're not gonna show some moderation and be a civil human being, you're not even worth the effort.

Same thing happened to me when I was a level 23 in TS before the update. Since rank is more based on skill level than how many matches you've won, I'd say that's your threshold. It may flounder in and out of that area, but there's really nothing wrong with that. I mean, sure it's cool if you gain a level, but that just increases the odds of meeting cheaters/modders/etc. in the future.

I'd just say stick where you are and enjoy it :)

Otherwise my tips are the following.

- Always stay on the move.
- Reload after every shot(s) fired (If using Sniper Rifle)
- Don't hide in places people would normally look for you
- Practice sniping with friends or in unranked matches
- Set your look sensitivity to a slightly lower level (like -1 from your current setting). This will allow better control over aiming.
- Use the environment toy your advantage, always keep something behind you so no one can sneak up from behind.

That's about all I can think of for now.

dont play at a lower sensitivity just use which sensitivity you like. I play with on 4 and i was a legit 40 before reset

Meh, it was just an idea. But definitly try messing with the sensitivity a little to see what works best like others have said.

i dont know about that one i never heard that one but i guess.
i feel different about it cause if its slower yea you have control but you lose speed to aim. i have found it easier to snipe faster even with the people are looking at me and still killed them when it should be other way around due to ability to quicklyrun my aim up to head (not a sweeper) nad that got me to 29 before reset but idk if lowering it works then go do it

another tip is dont try to crouch walk past you shelter trying to sipe someone if they know you there cause when you walk slow they will see your leg and will react to it. Also (tome it works) use grenades as "smoke screen" to snipe them and give you adv. make sure though as soon your aimer turns red you have to pull trigger cause they will do same

good luck hope that helps :)

That grenade smoke screen thing will come in use, thank you.

its mostly depends on the color you are and your skill level at that map

like on burial mounds red you cant see that good and blue you can see from them other side of the map

I agree with tnt...you don't have to lower your look sensativity...play with whatever is comfortable for you . in the original halo i had my sensativity turned all the way down, and with h2 i have it cranked up. its all personal preference.

  • 08.10.2007 12:11 PM PDT

I play on a 7 and i'm a 16 sniper and i've only played like 30 games. It dosn't matter what you play on as long as you can get to their head before they get you.

I found using the covey sniper easier with the double shot, then switching to human in case i miss.

before the reseti w as a29 in snipers... i couldnt ever get higher.... i hit the same wall at 23 as well....

see i used to go in alone with sensativity about 4 and made it to 25.....started playign with friends who didnt uber suck at snipers... got to 29... then i changed my sensativity to like 7 trying to match my bnuddies... and i totally sucked at snipes..... my games were like 4 and 16 horrible... (i didnt jus up and jump to 7 sens either i slowely upped it) anyways ive since downed it back to 4 and im trying to regain some rank..

but like the others said NEVER sit still... once you kill someone they know where you are and most of the time people go for the folks who kill them last. espeially in snipers

I was a 33 before reset and what worked well for me was.

1) On small maps such as Ivory Tower even though its -blam!-, try to keep your rifle at head level all the time and even on larger maps in small areas.
2) Try to quick scope in short range battles rather than trying to no scope.
3) Use the sweep technique, use single zoom and instead of trying to aim directly at the head, get your sights at head level and sweep your target over their head and the auto aim will catch thier head for a moment, when it does this pound the trigger.
4) Most importantly dont go rambo or run through open feilds, thats ignorant, stay behind cover and limit movement as much as possible, its a sniper not an smg.

I hit a wall too, it's called, "Gee, my reflexes sure do suck".

I'm a level 9, probably won't get higher because of the aforementioned suck. However, I'm pretty sure that anyone above a level 15 is in league with the Devil and eats babies.

Just my opinion :P

When I snipe, (every single game, I love snipers) I try to keep moving. Try to just use whichever analog stick you use to aim left often and use the stick you use to move more often. It helps me aim better. When trying to no scope, never jump. It makes you to easy to hit as you come down. Also move all around if at all possible and not use the right stick (assuming it's what moves the reticule) unless they move behind you, or to a spot you can't see with strafing.

I have only been playing H2 for a couple months now and really haven't played Snipers all that often. I'm more of a Team SWAT whore.

I was just being a smartass.

BTW, I owe my awesome rank of 9 to several people on my friends list who are level 20s. You don't think I obtained such status based on my own talent do you? ;)

Just so you can see what I'm saying. Out of 600 or so total games played, I've played 18 games of Snipers.

That guy has played 1000 sniper games! That's insane.

Thanks for the tips people, keep them coming if you can. I played a game of ffa snipers last night and the smoke screen thing helped me as did loads of others.
