Practice.

And this thread will get locked. Bungie considers button glitches cheating.

I dont think this is the best place to disscuss this, because bungie considers it cheating.

There was a man from Allentown who fed his son to death.
He calmly watched him gorge himself until his final breath.
And there he stood, surprised and shocked above his tiny frame.
He said: "I bear no blame for this. I only share his name!"

To get better at anything, you just do it until it becomes second nature. Oh, and this thread will be locked. Double shooting is cheating and no threads about cheating.

Its a little easier if you use tiur fingertips to pull the trigger and press the buttons as opposed to the pads of your fingers. If you can claw itll make it easy too, but clawing is hard as hell to master.

Keeping your aim on target while double shooting can be done with alot of practice but some people play using a tech called the claw which makes it much easier to keep there aim on target while dbl shooting. Of course dbl shooting is something you should do only outside of matchmaking ;)

To be honest, you really don't need to learn how to double shot to play better. Although it can be very useful in diffrent scenarios. Like for example when your shields are down and your opponent is half shields you can then pull of a double shot(RRX) as your last resort.
Weapon and button glitches are now allowed in MLG. So I really woudln't consider it cheating, but thats just me.

How to double shot
-----------------------------
Ok so what you want to do is tap the right trigger half way and right after it tap the same trigger fully followed by an x to cancel which should allow you to double shot.

360 double shot
-----------------------------
On a 360 its more difficult for some people to RRX correctly and almost all the time other than an original xbox.
So I would recommend practice, remember practice makes perfection.

Double shot with other weapons
-------------------------------------------------
Ok so to double shot duals is easy, practice with a plasma rifle(covenent)
as you tap R the first time, rapidly repeat it at the same time as tapping X.

Aiming the RRX
-----------------------------
There are two ways

Clawing and Following The Bullet or we call it short...FTB
Clawing is harder but it is worth the practice. I claw .
Now to claw simply play the way you do on your left hand and on your right thumb, just use your right pointer for the buttons and use your middle finger for the trigger.
Clawing allows you to aim while double shotting and aim while BXRing.
It might bring your game down every now and then til you get used to it, think of this as relearning how to play while already knowing how to play.
Walshy uses this technique and he's the one that taught me

Try double shot tricks like go from a BXR into a double shot....
B-X-R-R-X

Sensitivity
---------------------------
Ok so I use sensitivity of 1 and now I --blam!-!-. Ive beaten many pros 1v1 now and well, it might sound crazy but 1 works better for me in my BR and snipe. Im amazing at both of those weapons, 1 also allows you to be more accurate with your shots and double shots. This is following your bullet. always follow your bullets and find YOUR right sensitivity, not someoneelses....

Play like the Pro's and not like the others who use this as a show off and insults
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dont quad shot, it can just get you killed.
Use the double shot as an advantage and not to show off.
Use the Triple-shot
R-R-RRX

and Last...Be a team player
-----------------------------------------------------
Show othres what you have learned, dont insult them or make them feel bad becuase you double shotted them, help them learn too and kepp the word out.

~God Bless

It's cheating, you don't need it to win so don't bother.

To add, Claw is very difficult, and is even more difficult on 360, and Xbox S controllers. If you're considering clawing, I would advise getting one of the larger Xbox Controllers, the small ones make clawing very uncomfortable.

If you want to DS without the claw, you'll basically have to aim using your strafe. try to match the strafe of the other player to keep the reticule on him.

Claw is hard on 360 controllers.
My advice. Dont doubleshoot. It makes Halo 3 all the harder to get good at.
If you really want to DS use claw or use the Legacy look setting.

I was one of the first to have halo 2 and I just started getting back into it. I'll admit I hate DS/BXR and I'm confused why this glitch hasn't been removed but I've been getting raped because of this crap. I have no choice but to adapt and learn how to do it. Hopefully Halo 3 wont have these button glitches cuz personally it takes away from the precision and effects how the game should be played. Its almost like adding fighting elements to the game in hitting a series of buttons to pull off a "special move" instead of just trying to shoot. In some fights it just makes the shield just look pathetic and initially I cant imagine bungie wanting it to play the way it is now. It causes a series of imbalances in the game. I can understand making the reload button to cancel, but to alter the shot? -blam!-!!!!! Only way I can see enjoying this I is a game type where the lock is toggled like the shield is for swat, but I rather just not have it in the game. It conflicts with the balance system of the shield and weapons.
~The rocket can kill you in one shot but thats why it is so limited. How can you limit weapons like the BR that comes in clips if it can kill you in two seconds.
~It makes the game seem unrealistic and takes away from the swift learning curve
~In my opinion....trash it!!!!

That is the best laugh I've had on the forums for ages mate!

Nice one...bxr & rrx cheating instructions on Bungie forums, just wow.

This isn't MLG, hence it's cheating and it was nice knowing your Bungie account. He he.

Good riddance cheater(s). Hope I get matched with this 'Pro' in Halo 3. Personally I can't wait for the level playing field of less host advantage and less glitches, combos, jumps cheats etc.

-BEGIN EDIT
To the OP enquiring about how to get better.

Use strategy not cheats. I've been up against plenty of Australia's top players on good hosting connections and I can easily hold my own playing legit.

You can see bxr coming a mile away, they simply don't shoot and come straight for you.

Double shot can get them in serious trouble if you learn to crouch/dodge the double headshot as you can read when their most likely going to go for the final kill or triple shot etc.

Point is players focus too much on button combos and glitches, really if you're against a team that coordinates and communicates you're toast.

Think the best double or quad shotter in the world is only going to get one kill against three or four guys with overlapping lines of fire. It's simple team work that wins.

FFA is a different story, but just use the skill of the cheater against them. Steal their kills and finish them off. Most players simply cannot combo enough to tackle multiple enemies at the same time or in a row.

Acutally I'm tempted to report this guy for cheating. Oh and being stupid enough to post his gamertag with cheating instructions.

Mate if you're really pro you'd know to keep these posts at MLGpro.com NOT Bungie.net.

You know if it's aloud in MLG tournaments and online tournaments then it is not cheating and really when ever someone gets reported for the double shot or BXR nothing happens because people just don't care!!!!!!

thats it? you dont have to do r r x y y ?
RRX is to double shoot and you can press YY to switch to your secondary and back to basically reset the weapon so it's ready to fire again.
I'll admit I hate DS/BXR and I'm confused why this glitch hasn't been removed but I've been getting raped because of this crap. I have no choice but to adapt and learn how to do it.
It hasn't been removed because Bungie doesn't consider it a major game breaking bug and and fixing it could spawn even more issues. Basically the button combos are here to stay and to top it off Bungie can't even detect them. The only way to get banned for button glitching is if you can accumulate enough bad feedback from other Halo 2 players through Xbox Live's feedback system.
You know if it's allowed in MLG tournaments and online tournaments then it is not cheating
Aloud vs allowed. Learn the difference.
