Why is it that I go from being a level 30 skill level player to a 15 in snipers? What happened to my auto-aim? Auto-aim is supposed to be a slight magnetism of their heads so when your reticle passes over it gets stuck for a split second, right? Or am I wrong? I have absolutely no auto-aim anymore. One day I go from getting 75% head shots to none the next day. Do any of you have this problem?

There was a man from Allentown who fed his son to death.
He calmly watched him gorge himself until his final breath.
And there he stood, surprised and shocked above his tiny frame.
He said: "I bear no blame for this. I only share his name!"

I don't need auto aim.

The only time I've ever seen auto-aim actually work is when you have a sword. Other than that, useless.

hold any weapon and have a friend walk slowly across your screen, you'll follow him for a while.

auto-aim most definitely exists and it is very much a problem. Halo 3 will win.

I've played the Halo 3 Beta and I've played Halo 1. I can play just fine without auto-aim. It's annoying when it's supposed to be there, but something's screwy and it won't work for me.

Didn't say it didn't exist, just have never really found it to be very useful.

You should go check out the Halo 1 & 2 for PC board. All those guys can do is piss and moan about the auto-aim "advantage" that the console guys have in Halo 2 now that Vista has them playing with some console gamers. It's kind of funny.

Really a lot of poeple complain that auto-aim is pointeless until they play without it... a few people truely are good without it but that is rare...

The only way really to play Halo 2 without auto aim, or something to make up for it, is try to do a lot of team killing just with your BR and sniper (I don't recomend trying it out in matchmaking).

As for it not working for you in snipers... as long as you are scoped in it should work fine, or maybe you are just experiancing a bit of lagg.

Auto aim only works when your reticle is red. When you're not zoomed with the sniper rifle it won't turn red. Also, autoaim is very subtle, I almost never notice it unless an enemy walks past me and my reticle jerks a little bit. That said, it's a lot harder without it whether you think it does anything or not.

It's actually called sticky-aim, I believe. It's not auto-aim: With automatic aiming, you'd never need to co-ordinate your reticle if the game had this; it'll do it itself.

Sticky-aim just assists you with your own co-ordination by slowing down and even dragging the reticle slightly over a target. As, Explodsive said, it (sticky-aim) only occurs when your aiming reticle is red hence why it is quite difficult to no-scope with either of the sniper rifles because the reticle only tuns red whilst you're zoomed in.

If we didn't have the sticky-aim, every weapon would be just as hard to aim with as the sniper rifle without a scope; it's necessary to have though, at times, it can be annoying.

Notation: Sticky-aim is used on console games because the controller's analog sticks aren't accurate enough as like the mouse and keyboard are.

Sticky aim gets pretty annoying after a while, and I believe Bungie's removing it from Halo 3. For example, if you have your battle rifle out in close combat, and want to throw a grenade into a bunch of enemies, it usually distorts your aim, and you have to fight the control stick to get a good throw in.

auto aim helps tremendously. try betraying your team. you dont have auto aim on and its much harder to kill them.

  • 08.12.2007 11:48 AM PDT

i dont think anything is wrong with auto aim. it can be helpful if somebody is jumping around.

  • 08.12.2007 3:29 PM PDT

that is actually wrong. if you stand still audto aim will show itself with any weapon.

Auto-aim? What are you all talking about? Is this an option in character setup or something?
