There was a man from Allentown who fed his son to death.
He calmly watched him gorge himself until his final breath.
And there he stood, surprised and shocked above his tiny frame.
He said: "I bear no blame for this. I only share his name!"

XBox Live support. Go to them first.

How do you open your NAT?

BTW, NAT stands for Network Address Transmiter, (I think.)

Good, friendly, violent fun.

NAT settings are usually found under 'Firewall' or 'DMZ' settings on your router, but sometimes just disabling firewall can sort it out.

Also, if you have an option to enable Upnp, then do that aswell, it lowers security protocols especially for gaming.

Hope you get sorted.

yeah i'm an aussie too but u know that XxD34dLyDud3xX... i also have trouble joining other Australians/Tasmanians n they have alsorts of troubles joining me. i can join americans n they can join me though.... it has sumfin to do with my portforwarding i've been told but i cant figure it out.... the only way i've been able to by pass it with actually changing anything is a) join/or get ppl to join me by joining from the menu n not pregame lobby(dont know how that makes a difference) or b) start up a custom n then invite my friends then once they join quit n go into MM(once again i dont know how that changes anything but it works....

also once 1person is in my party it seems the proberlem disappears same with if theres more than 1 aussie in a party i wanna join.....

can some plz give me some detailed info/steeps as to how to fix this? i'm on a normal xbox, not 360=*(

I also suffer this problem with a couple people on my friends list but I'm using 360. I tend to just get someone else in the party to invite me in.

RIP Halo 2.

An easy fix to open the NAT is to assign a static IP address to your Xbox and put this IP in the DMZ of your router.

Trailer Park Boys ~ One of the best Canadian made comedies ever.

These are suggested steps that may get your NAT fixed and able to connect to your friends.

Follow the directions:
1) Write down your ip that your Xbox 360 is reporting (in network area)
2) Go to your PC and connect to your router via it's address eg. 192.168.0.1 (keep in mind everyone’s is different so check your router manual if you don’t know what it is)
3) Go the DMZ (de-militarized zone) section in you router settings.
4) Set the IP which your 360 is using to be outside the dmz.
5) Go back to 360 and reboot it, also reboot wireless gaming modem unless you have a cable hooked up to your 360 direct from router.
6) Do a "connect to xbox live" test and make sure the NAT test reports as "open" after the test is complete. If it still reports as moderate then you have not set the router /IP correctly in the dmz.
7) Everything should work now.

Okay thanks, but just one question.
What do you do to find your IP your Xbox 360 is using?

  • 08.12.2007 6:14 PM PDT

Trailer Park Boys ~ One of the best Canadian made comedies ever.

From your Xbox 360 Dashboard:
-Systems tab
-Network settings
-Edit settings
-Now it will display information including your Xbox’s IP address.

thanks for that.... nice to have some helpful ppl on here not just flamers....

just a few quick questions.

1) a routers a modem right? i'm form australia so i'm guessin its the same
2) is this the same for an original xbox, not 360
3)how do u find ur IP address? as my modem was in the package when i got my net so it didnt come with a manual on how to set it up. it was just plug n play....
4)is the test thing the same on the normal xbox? i cant remember coz i haven't had a 360 in a long time(3red lights for the third time in a row on 3 different xbox's so i gave up on 360's)

Trailer Park Boys ~ One of the best Canadian made comedies ever.

The main difference between a Router and a Modem is your ISP can only gain access to your modem. Yes, just go to the Xbox Dashboard and you can obtain your Xbox’s IP as well as other information. Finding your IP address is easy. Simply go to this site and it will tell you. The diagnostic test on the original Xbox I’m not sure about.

My knowledge of modems is vague and this is as much as I can help you. Hopefully someone can clarify on these forums. You can also take a look at this Xbox Support page about NAT. If possible, try contacting Xbox Support, 1-800-4MY-XBOX. Their staff will assist you if you explain to them your problem and most likely offer better support than here.
