I think an IQ test should be required in order to participate in the forums. Or, maybe there should be a Bungie "Elite" forum, and the IQ test could be used to screen out all of the fools. Maybe SAT/ACT could be used in place or in conjunction? That way, the folks of higher intelligence can have a safe-haven to retreat to after being stranded in the wilderness of the bungie.net forums...

OMG enough of these threads. It's probably just for legal purposes, no big deal. Why does it matter?

Anyone but Foman. He smells like cheese.

Why don't you start a private group where you can be as elitist as you want and set all of the rules as to who is worthy enough to be a member?

There is a reason that the public forums are called public forums.

I disagree with your idea.

Basically sums it up.

See, I am pretty sure the post count was removed from accounts to hide the elitism believed in them. Making an IQ test is just as bad.

IQ tests simply test how good you are at IQ tests. They're predictable and easy, and with about 15 minutes practice, you can score 3-4 times your actual "IQ" (a flawed measure in any case). And american SAT/ACT scores? Don't make me lol.

I did start one of those groups, meanie-face.... =P

But no one was good enough to get in other than me, so I just talked to myself in a bunch of different threads.

Only good thing was I always won the caption contests!!

I know for a fact that I am -blam!- at online tests for IQ and typing speed. I don't think well in stressful situations, and a TICK TICK TICK blaring in my ears as I'm trying to find 20% of 1005 or as I try to type a really long word as fast as I can and I get it right, except it says I'm wrong because I'm Australian and we put U's in cool places, IS A STRESSFUL SITUATION. I was just playing Mavis Beacon on my old Mac, and I observed that I work a hell of a lot better when I'm not sitting in a race car and when the computer doesn't beep loudly every time I make a mistake.

Frankly, I wouldn't have bothered with this site if I had to be subject to an IQ test before I got in.

Anyway, this idea is under the assumption that you need a high IQ to be a good member of a community. Nothing could be further from the truth. I know a -blam!-load of people with rather high IQs who suck social ass.

If anything, we should be testing social eptitude through some sort of faux MSN conversation with a bot. You can gauge someone's niceness on how they react to being asked random questions by a computer while they're trying to sign up to a website.

No, wait, that's a -blam!- idea too.

PS. 201, yes I know.

Chairleg Productions presents: 'Console Wars' and 'Games as Art?' (also on Halo Waypoint).

Firstly, having an "Elite" Bungie forum would be a big no no. Not going to happen. Secondly, having a high IQ does not necessarily mean you can contribute well when communication on online forums and visa versa.

IQ tests aren't exactly an accurate gauge of intelligence. Especially ones performed over the web. And the concept of an "Elite" forum is just promoting elitism, something that doesn’t go over too well here. Even if you had it as an elite forum, I dunno if the community would be that great anyways. I wouldn't join it. If you feel like having an intelligent discussion, go to one of the several private groups or even here at the Septagon, you can find intelligent discussion for the most part.

Oh, how wonderful life would be... *cries*.

Yeah, I disagree on many points.
1. IQ is a horrible test for ability to communicate on a forum.
2. You shouldn't have to be smart enough, just rule-abiding enough. Perhaps criminal background checks on all prospective members...
3. Think of how many people (myself included) joined this site when they were much less internet savy and much more immature. People change, and you have to facilitate that change if you want it to happen.

You're obviously basing your conclusions off of online IQ tests. 15 minutes wouldn't help with a real one, unless you were being told all of the answers.

You're lucky there's not an "insulting & pretentious half baked idea forum."

You are all loved beyond measure.
I, like you, am a light-sound-vibration complex that resonates with others. I have hopes and dreams and ambitions, just like you! I AM, and so are you! Yes, we are one and the same, you and I.

Good lord. What on Earth were you thinking when you made this thread?

You say this would be an Elite forum -- a minority. You also say that your process would not invite high-IQ members but only filter out others. So basically, you think that the forums are overwhelmingly populated by unintelligent individuals. W2G!

Also, this says nothing of maturity. It's tempting to make a correlation but that would be a horrible and stupid idea too.

"That's about all that can be said for plots, which anyway are just one thing after another, a what and a what and a what.

Now try how and why."

Wisdom is more important on the forums than intelligence.

I've seen people that seem to understand quantum theory that still act like, to be blunt, complete jerks.

Why would an IQ test be needed. IQ tests test only certain areas. There is no way to test maturity.

6. The cow jumped over what interstellar object?

7. What's the next number going to be?

9. This is the correct number after 7. True or False?

I'll be on my own side.

IQ tests are usually just ways to measure how much useless info you have festering in your brain.

because if seeing is believing,
then believe that we have lost our eyes

IQ test? No. Test to show you understand that there are specific forums for specific topics? Possibly.
