First of all, im so proud for ps2 for finally coming out with a halo killer, it only took what...almost two years! Yeah good job sony. I'm sure killzone will be a very entertaining game, but like everyone has seen time and time again, if it doesnt blow away the game or whatever it is supposed to kill, people will hate it. Anyway, even if it does...kill halo, killzone is slated for a november release, which is around...NOV. 9, 2004, the release date of Halo 2!!!!!!
Now Halo and Halo 2 are what the industry calls 'system sellers.' These little babies make ppl. go buy and xbox just so they can buy halo. Last time i recalled halo has sold over 4 MILLION worldwide, seriously, how much help do the need from selling it on ps2 anyway. And...4,000,000 x $50 a pop = more money than any damn ps2 game has raked in for sony.
Next, faninme, it is a BAD idea marketing wise to allow you COMPETITOR to sell YOUR FLAGSHIP product. See, the deal is product exclusivity, like someone said with Final Fantasy. Now i know of a few ppl. that got the ps2 solely for that reason, and they think it has a broader selection of RPGs, there has to be an exclusive reason to buy a system. Now, if everything has the games, why not buy the cheapest one. You have to havea reason to sell, plus, in the console industry it is a small market (nintendo, sony, microsoft), so any edge can tip the scale against your favor.
I understand what you are getting at, and i refuse to call you dumb, because like any american, you are thinking and you got dollar signs in your eyes. Its all good man.
