Which option makes the game run less laggy? Or in other words Smoother. Im wondering because my video card is ok but if i get to a game where there is way too much explosions or vehicles and such..The game starts skipping a bit costing me valuable aiming time and shooting time :(

can any1 point me in the right direction?

Thank you! =]

open halo, chose prefrences, chose veido setup. set everything to low/no, and that will make your game run smoothly (but it will look horrible)

Well i know that much but i was talking about the option called framerate..I cant tell if it will improve the graphics or gameplay and such...Do you know anything about that?

Thanks! :D

Heyyo,

Simple, set your framerate to vsync or no vsync. I suggest vsync cause no vsync doesn't make your game run faster during big explosions and stuff, and sometimes you can get screen tearing...

As for the rest? gimmie computer specs, I can help you out. ;)

My comp specs are in my signature, and I run the screen rez at 640x480 with the refresh rate at 120Hz, and framerate set to vsync. Turning off specular lighting and shadows helps a bunch too. ;)

Mr. Mard is right, if you have a 9600 pro like he does, then you should be fine...

you give us your full specs and well explain

hey Mard are you sure your Pc can't go beyond 640x480? that seems a bit extreme in the search for smooth running, esp. since you have a gig of ram. I would've thought it could handle more than that. I'm beginning to think I'm the only one here who plays it 1280x1024 with all the options on full. sometimes when i'm hosting or using MSN I run it in windowed mode, only then do I touch below 800x600 :P Strangly enough I only ever use 60Hz for refresh rate, and v-sync makes sweet FA difference to my game. looks gorgeous anyway tho as you might expect.

Heyyo,

Heh, well at 800x600 my framerate just DIES... I think it's my MSI mobo... should've bought Asus man, my bad. :p

It's either that, my mobo, or my cpu. It's pretty strong, which means I should get 800x600 without a big framerate loss.. but that isin't so... here's some benchmarks...

Average frame rate=39.84fps
###Sound Options###
Hardware Acceleration= No
Sound Quality= Normal
Environmental Sound= No
Sound Variety= Medium
###Video Options###
Resolution= 640 x 480
Refresh rate= 120 Hz
Framerate throttle= No Vsync
Specular= No
Shadows= No
Decals= Yes
Particles= Off
Texture Quality= High

Average frame rate=28.02fps
###Sound Options###
Hardware Acceleration= No
Sound Quality= Normal
Environmental Sound= No
Sound Variety= Medium
###Video Options###
Resolution= 800 x 600
Refresh rate= 90 Hz
Framerate throttle= No Vsync
Specular= No
Shadows= No
Decals= Yes
Particles= Off
Texture Quality= High

As you can see, a loss of 10F/S off the bat... with my already low F/S, I can't afford to lose more than 10... or else I just lag and die in MP games...

BTW, I use the ATI Catalyst v4.5 drivers... the newer one's just screw over my preformance... like, by 12F/S! and that just becomes insanity...
