Well, I hadn't played for a while. The other day I started up my 360, and I can get on Live no problem on the dashboard, download demos, play other 360 games. However, when I'm in Halo2 it doesn't let me connect and prompts me to start the troubleshooter. Doing this just confirms on the 360 side that I can connect fine, going back to Halo2 produces the same error, in this circular fashion.

Anyone have any idea what's going on?

Did your account just turn silver? That happens to me a lot.

It doesn't even let me do a system link game, says it can't connect to the network. Still looks like it's a gold account.

So the cable I'm using is a 100ft, Cat 6 cable. Specifically, this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E1681218909 2

100ft shouldn't be too long right?

Well, if I go back to wireless, I at least get a connection. It isn't all that great, but it lets me. I didn't want to have to remove all the maps, that'd be a pain in the ass. But I guess I can try it.

It might be that the settings on your 360 aren't set to let you play original Xbox games on Live. I believe its in the console settings or family settings tab on the dashboard.

Loopy, stfu and enjoy your inevitable banning

OP, make sure that your signed into xbox live before you launch halo 2. also, im not sure but I think you need a cat 5 patch cable for using a direct link between modem and xbox, and cross over for modem to network router then xbox 360

I appreciate the reply but Cat5,Cat5e, and Cat6 shouldn't matter. They are all just basically different speed ratings. Cat6 is probably just "overdoing" it. It was cheap enough, so I didn't see any problem with getting it.

A crossover cable should be used if doing a system link from xbox to xbox, but no other situation really. Modem to Router and Router to Xbox/Xbox360 should all be standard cables. It just has to do with the transmission path. The Router, basically does the "crossover" that a Crossover cable does.

I'm beginning to think it is just the cable, have a friend bringing over his long cable. We'll see I guess.

I had this same problem happen to me not too long ago. I found that if I just signed into a different Xbox LIVE account to check that it would work, then switched back into mine that H2 would work for me again. I'm not sure exactly why it isn't work for you guys out there but the best of luck to you.

PS: Did you guys try to log in with you accounts before opening Halo 2? Mine wouldn't work before, but after I switched accounts and back it seemed to be fine.
