Hi,

I followed the guide on the Microsoft support site to get my Xbox 360 controller working with Halo. All seems good, it plays just like the Xbox version. But there is a problem.

Halo doesn't seem to have any kind of deadzone function. This makes the analog sticks on the controller too sensitive and they often drift off in random directions.

I've tried some drivers on the Internet like XBCD and a small program called DXTweak, but they don't work.

Is there any simple solution to creating a deadzone on the analog sticks?

Thanks.

Just throwing this out there since I've never used a 360 controller on the PC, but there might be an option in Control Panel/Game Controllers window.

Reducing Sensitivity will help. But then looking up and down and stuff is way too slow. Use mouse and keyboard with Halo 1.

What OS are you using? Im not sure but I think the 360 controller is for XP

That driver you downloaded is for the old XBox controller and yes that would drift on me as well but the 360 doesnt but I use XP though.

No, there is no solution whatsoever, I'm afraid. Trust us, you're better off with a mouse and keyboard.

There's no options for adjusting the controller in the control panel because the drivers are completely useless.

So there's no solution? I just need a way to put a 25% deadzone on my controller's analog sticks. No more, no less.

Thanks for your replies.

Can anyone else help?

Yes, we all know that already, thank you; we're trying to see if there's a dead zone functionality.

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

Go buy a Logitech Rumblepad. It comes with software to adjust the deadzone on either analog stick.

It's Halo's fault, not the controller!

Controller works exactly like it does on the xbox, nicely =)

Slaying noobs since 2007.

It doesn't exactly preform very well on the Xbox, tbh.

Now, in the quantum moment before the closure, when all become one. One moment left. One point of space and time. I know who you are. You are destiny.

Like others said, you're better off playing with a keyboard and mouse, but then again, I doubt you'll cease your need to play with the controller.

It works perfect, I play on 10 (Insane) sensitivity.

That doesn't mean it works perfectly well, just because you compensate for the clunky controls of the xbox doesn't mean it works perfectly.

No, It means it works perfectly and better than any other controller on the market, PC or Console.

Slaying noobs since 2007.

Again, you are wrong, the Xbox controller is not the best on the market, the 360's is better than that.

Maybe he was saying before the 360 controller or that the original Xbox controller is what he views best. For all we know, there could be some other controller better than the 360 controller.

my 360 controller works fine. just when i want to switch to mouse and keyboard and i can't move with the mouse i just jiggle the right analog stick till i can use the mouse then it works. same thing on the left but its not as sensitive as the right.

THE ANALOG STICK HOLDERS ARE SQUARE!
but when u need some better controll jus press mode and it switches to the directional pad.
