Hello, Community!

Hopefully if you're reading this, it's because you're interesting in kicking your campaign experience up a notch by cranking up the Legendary with all skulls activated :-) Need advice? A guide? Maybe even a friendly community to cheer you on and help guide you through the process? Then give our Mythic thread a read, and Godspeed on your Mythic journey!

You, sir, OP, are epic win, and an example for the rest. Props to you, man.
Oh, just one thing. That video is taking the pee, as I'm sure you know :)
...wha?

Well thanks to you both for the support :-) I'm hoping as I begin to lead Earth City towards Halo 2 Vista, if I continue to gain both members and clans, then I will form our own servers that will strictly adhere to those rules.

First, Tyrant, let me say that I clicked on this post expecting to see an inane and ignorant thread about nothing. I was pleasantly surprised... you did it well without referring to the previous thread at all : D

I think a section on acceptable behavior, honor, and a standard of fairness and respect should be added onto the thread. Not necessarily for public servers, but for clan matches and one v one's there's nothing quite like having a gracious loser and winner that played their all without resorting to name-calling or glitches or anything of the sort. When Clans agree to play the "three gametype rule" and not whine about their opponents choice (even in just casual scrimmages, not just competitive play). There are still people who act like gentlemen/women but perhaps a part of the thread dedicated will bring a couple more into the fold.

hmm. I thought my post was a little relative to the topic. Isn't it?
I mean, he posted "rules" that aren't real rules, more etiquette than anything.

Thanks!

Comments and compliments are both appretiated alike :-)

To taylor to some of the things you mentioned, I believe things such as ill-mannered communication and gracious losses are covered under the "tactical chatter" bit I mentioned. I'm sure we're all well aware that there are quite a number of things players can do communication-wise to spoil the fun. The list goes on and on. Name calling, cursing, playing music, etc. It's much easier to tell them what they should do, since it's pretty simple. Use the communication tools for team tactical purposes only. Filling the airwaves with mindless, not to mention tedious chatter, simply annoys the players on the board and may get you a bad rating, a report to Microsoft, or even banned from servers or Live altogether.

But I do see where you are coming from. Hopefully Earth City can help bring an end to bad sportsman ship on the MP battlefield.

Im guilty of the spawn camping. Its very easy to spawn camp on ascension, where the banshie spawns. Most the time its legit with heavy fire and snipers reigning down on ya, the spot provides the Battle Rifle, my new favorite weapon and some good cover from the whole map, but thats a major spawn point, to just sit there and take out people as they respawn with out giving them a chance is easy. To my supprize as many times as ive done it ive never herd anyone complain.

Tyrant, if you ever get this stickied, please add to the top of your first post, preferably on bolds and perhaps caps (Wow, rhyme!) that the rules you posted are the ones for your server, also adding the I.P address and name, not to say website of the contributors and the server operators...

That is, if you get the server running, and with those rules applied.

I see they've already been mentioned, but:

Delays: If you have to delay more than once or twice, leave the game. Let the others play and have a decent time.

Ghosting: No, not the vehicle.Hanging around just to get the acheivements and not playing. It gets especially bad during team games. Either play the game, or get some cheap X-Box 360 games for the points.

Actually spawn-killing is a very valid tactical strategy when playing CTF. When your team advances to the enemy base, and make it out with the flag, the rest fo the team begins to spawn-kill everyone at the base while the flag carrier gets away. That tactic is used by every clan that I have ever played against.

I'm glad you brought this up, CV. What CV is describing generally isn'y considered to be spawn camping. If you're downing a flag guard in the midst of getting the flag, or helping a fellow teammate (flag runner with the flag) by offing his on-coming assassins, that's a show of excellent teamwork, where as a spawn-killer will either camp in the cliffs or even across the map at their own base, and simply begin sniping the other team for their own personal gain. Not to cover their teammates, but to up there kills, which does absolutely no good in a game of CTF anyway. In fact, consider this. If you're at your own base and you've just sniped someone on the other team at there base, congradulations. You've just accomplished absolutely nothing. They'll simply respawn a mere few feet away, pick up their old weapons, and continue on their way.

I've often thought this before but, that's not the case. 10 Seconds of respawn can mean winning and losing. Getting sniped multiple times, 30 seconds of respawn can mean horrible things for the team getting sniped. It can range from the other team getting power ups like overshield, weapon spawns like rockets, or just getting a bunch of their people in a warthog to obliterate their base and take the flag while 3 other people are still waiting to spawn.

P.S. Theres really nothing wrong with spawn camping anyway. It's like the noob combo. Annoying but useful. (Even though I rarely use the noob combo anyway)

Don't drink to excess– You might shoot at tax-collectors... and miss

Computer: Power Mac G5 CPU Type: PowerPC G5 (2.2) Number Of CPUs: 2 CPU Speed: 1.8 GHz L2 Cache (per CPU): 512 KB Memory: 1.25 GB Bus Speed: 900 MHz

ATi Radeon X800 XT Mac Edition
Display Type: LCD Resolution: 1680 x 1050 Depth: 32-bit Color

I didn't finish reading it. Nice, but I don't agree with everything. In general, you should not spawn kill, but in some gametypes it is a must, e.g. CTF on Blood Gulch, sniper weapons on spawn in, no vehicles. You can't let the enemy get a shot off if they all spawn in with weapons that are instant one-shot-kills. Even if the flagger gets through the TP, anybody spawning in has the power to kill him from across the map.

TKers don't play in free for alls because the usually get pwned. They ENJOY messing up their team.

I'll switch teams if it evens things out OR, if my team is plauged by a TKer or a bunch of people who would rather paint pictures on the wall with their weapons than go fight the enemy and take his flag. If the admin does not ban the TKer, then he should not expect the rest of us to put up with him. I also might switch if my team just can't get it together– many individuals leaving solo in hogs only to be killed by the incoming enemy who have loaded their hogs and who make multi-vehicle coordinated attacks. When you suffer through assault after assault and watch your team get raped and nobody even tries to work together to fight off the enemy, (not a word between team mates to try to coordinate a defense), I'll switch.

I still stand by my opinion that even if your team sucks, you joined the game and are obligated to stay and play. I've rarely been in a server where tactical chatter was truly utilized and the concept of the micophone was just a waste of air space.
