Well I've finally got another month of Xbox Live Gold, and am having a problem on Halo 2, on my 360. When I signed on to Live and put Halo 2 in the console, it got to the white screen with the Xbox logo in the middle and told me it had to download an update, which it did. The game loaded, and got to the profile selection screen. I clicked my profile, and the game asked me if I wanted to sign on to Xbox Live. I accepted and was told that an update was needed. After agreeing, the game takes me to a black screen. I've sat and waited through it for ten minutes with no response. Is this supposed to happen, or is it a problem?

Sounds like a problem. Not sure what it is, but it can't be right.

Possibly just a problem it had with loading and restarting the system and doing it again will fix it?

I tried restarting it and trying the update again. That didn't work in June on my old 360, and it didn't work now on my new one

Trailer Park Boys ~ One of the best Canadian made comedies ever.

Try clearing your Xbox 360 cache. This clears your console of all game and software updates, but is known to correct problems when your Xbox is "acting up." Click here and follow the instructions, it doesn't take long to do and you'll have to re-download all the updates again.

If you've tried anything with no prevail, you made need to call Xbox Support.

Tried again and it still took me to the black screen when I chose to update. It asked me two times again, one at the Xbox screen and one at profile selection screen.

What video cable are you using?

Halo 2 updates only seem to work on mine with the original composite video cable, ie- the one with 3 connectors (red, white and yellow) it's normally used plugged into a scart adaptor.

Try it.
