I've recently started playing Halo:CE on XB Connect because I'm trying to ease the pain until Halo 3 comes out, that and Halo 2 on Xbox Live has kind of got boring. In any case, I popped the disc into my 360 and it loaded up except I noticed that it wasn't 16:9, but 4:3. I thought it was suppose to display the graphics in wide screen, at 720p, like in Halo 2 and what they said in this story http://www.bungie.net/News/content.aspx?type=topnews&cid= 7139 a while ago on the Halo 2 Anniversary Special. Please Comment...Thanks.

I believe Halo: Combat Evolved doesn't support 720p.

It says in the link above... "But here's another bonus – the hardware in the 360 can do a lot of nifty stuff, and specifically in the cases of Halo and Halo 2, it can display the graphics in wide screen, at 720p, with full scene anti-aliasing. And it doesn't look kludgy, artifacty or smeary like an upscanning DVD player."

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

I've had this problem, as far as I know the only way around it is if your T.V. has a setting to adjust the horizontal size of the picture... Alas mine does not, so I play it in 420p :(

I experienced this too, and it's annoying. What IS there looks really crisp and shiny, but it's the wrong aspect ratio.

I believe it may have something to do with the game not having proper widescreen support. Whenever you do play it on widescreen it's stretched. Seems in 480p the picture will stretch, but in 720p it won't.

Doc: "i'm a pacifist"
Caboose: "your a thing that babies suck on?"
Tucker: "no dude, that's a pedephile"
Church: "tucker, i think he means a pacifier"

yea it's a bummer, it automatically compressed it into 4:3, but the 360 did upscale the graphics, it looked great on my tv. i don't remember this being a problem with the old xbox but i havn't tried it on my new tv.

Yeah it compressses it into 4:3 when on 720p, which really sucks...but it does upscale the graphics and they do look good. I'll probably see how it looks on 480p 16:9 and see which one is more pleasing but w/e. I just don't want to automatically stretch the picture... I'm getting the new XBOX 360s anway with the new hdmi cables and maybe it will work with them. Has anyone though actually played the game on 720p with 16:9 without stretching it automatically? Anyways I'm having a big Halo: CE LAN party in September with seven of my friends and we're going to host it on XB Connect before Halo 3 comes out. 2 XBOXs 8 people in total. I've recently started playing Halo:CE on XB Connect because I'm trying to ease the pain until Halo 3 comes out; it's actually really fun and as I've said before, Halo 2 on Xbox Live has kind of got boring... We're going to play mostly Sidewinder, Damnation, and Blood Gulch on CTF... And maybe play some TS on Hang Em' High, Chillout, and Damnation... We might play some other maps and gametypes such as TS Rockets on Prisoner and TS or CTF Shotguns on Longest. Anways if you're interested just pm me your username so I can send you more info and add you on my friends list...My username on XBC is TheUsualSuspect...and I'll make sure to send you an invite when the game is up... You can also just post it on here... We're looking for at least 2 more peeps; 10 in total. It would be better though if you can bring guests, so we can have more people playing. Obviously, it would be awesome playing on Blood Gulch CTF with 16 people, but I doubt that would really happen, seeing how we can have only 4 XBOXs connected.
