This happens to everyone, but it's not as bad as you think. Before you make any assumptions before you're going into the game you have to check to see if the levels are actually ballanced. Let's say your a level 27 and you're going into a game of Team Slayer and the ranks end up like this:
Your Team:
You - Lvl 27
Player - Lvl 28
Player 2 - Lvl 29
Player 3 - Lvl 31
Opposing Team:
Player 1 - Lvl 33
Player 2 - Lvl 26
Player 3 - Lvl 25
Player 4 - Lvl 29
At first you see a level 33 and wonder "wtf? i'm raped" right? But if you actually take the time to check out the rest of the team they're usually abnormally low levels compared to the 33 or even yourself. Thus evening out the level difference between the two teams. This is usually the case for most games, but they're are those rare occasions where everything is out of whack. Say you (a lvl 27) and your party of lvl 29 buddies against are up against a group of 31 & 32's. Does that seem fair? The answer is no. But they're are always factors that contribute to these kind of things happening that most people pass aside. Although your rank says your a 27, you could be a game away from a 28 and not know it. Plus that team of 31's and 32's could be a game away from loosing a level (or even two in some instances of lag). Factors of true playerskill (as mentioned by TokenBlackGuy4U above), and the players and parties avalible at the time will also contribute to your final matchup. Just think of it like that time your were playing in Big team Battle (or BTB Skirmish), and it was a 7v8. That was caused because of the lack of players avalible in that skill range at that time, so it is basicly the same thing when you're unevenly matched up in a game. It is caused by the lack of players online and is usually used by the game as a last resort of keeping you waiting. So there it is in a nutshell, it is all I know from my experiences, so feel free to corect me, I just hope it helps people understand the system a little bit better.
