sorry for a nooby question, but can your acount be banned for super bouncing / button glitches and such?

i think that being part of the game theres absolutely nothing wrong with it, but it gets others very mad and one person told me i will have my acount banned...

It's sticky 'nade time!

Tampering in any way with the network. I. e. "hostbridging", stand-bye-ing and the likes.

Superbouncing because it is not available to everyone, people playing on foreign tv formats will not always be able to perform a superbounce so it gives one an unfair advantage.

Buttonglitches because you xploit bugs/glitches in the game to gain an unfair advantage. How? Simple. Say you're carrying a BR and you come across a good dual-wielder in close combat. Normally you would be screwed because dual-wield will win in close range, mostly. Now the same thing but you can do the buttonglitch thing. Now you win. Apart from cheap it is way more satisfying to win from a player on skill. Buttonglitches are not skill. They are not "part of the game", they weren't put in there on purpose, it's a game-engine problem. And I don't care what all those MLG dudes scream about how they are allowed to use it in MLG. Bungie has stated multiple times in the forums that it is concidered to be cheating and extreme poor sportsmanship although they can't ban you for it. On the other hand, X-box Live services CAN if you gather enough feedback for it. It's simple; when you play on X-box Live you play in their sandbox and by their rules. By creating an account you agreed with their terms of use.

So if you want to be on the safe side, just play the game as Bungie intended it to be. Then you should have no problems whatsoever.

The dual wielder would still win against something like a BXR if he was good.

Modding or hacking and messing with network connections in game for personal benefits are all methods of cheating.

Using standard controller techniques which are available to any player is not cheating as far as I know.

bxr and bxb are considered cheating, report those you see doing it, although bxb is null effective if you do it too fast, it cancels the melee before it hits

No one would really get banned for button glitches though since barely any people report those who do it, especially if you're at a high level.

Button glitching and super-bouncing are cheating, but not a bannable offense since a lot of people do them...Bungie can't keep track of everyone who does them. But, if a player has massive feedback of how they glitch, there is a chance that they can get syuspended/banned.

People who say using button combos is cheating or "noobish" don't understand how much time and patience it takes to master button combos. Nobody can just know how to double shot or quad shot on the first try (at least, not successfully in a match). Its a tool that gives the player a leverage in his favor. Personally, I only use BXR in sticky situations and I don't even bother double shooting as I usually mess it up anyways. However, if I'm beat by someone who perfected the button combos on me then I don't get upset. No, Bungie didn't intend for this glitch to be in the game, however, it doesn't drastically change the gaming experience like bridging/standbying does. H3 won't have these glitches, and I bet the BXR and double shot people will still do just as well as they have in the past. Like I said, it's just a way to sway the fight into the user's favor, much like using a rocket launcher or a PP/BR combo.

If I had to report people for using BR combos, I would be reporting nearly every game, sometimes multiple times...It's just not worth the time. If it's such a horrible thing, why doesn't Bungie just remove it in an update?

People consider it cheating because it IS cheating...

Cheating

Outside of what Bungie has stated on their website (Reading up on a subject first is a good thing prior to posting), they have also stated on several occassions that button glitching is considered cheating. However, as there is no way to determine the difference between an BXR and a B-R w/out the animation cancelling X, there is very little that can be done about this type of cheating. As you might expect this makes button glitches a common occurence in MM under the claims that the glitches are very widely used. The paradox in this arguement is of course that everyone does it because everyone is doing it. This always becomes a debate about MLG though so before we get too much into that stage of the thread; just play like a mature individual. I'm not going to report someone for button glitching unless he is rude to the point of making my experience on XBL a negative one.

It is cheating but it doesn't really matter, since most of the higher skilled people use it.

First time I hear of a keyboard adding a period after every word...probably can't space between words though...

Standby/modding/bridging = cheating and is automatically banned by the "Bungie Banhammer".

Animation glitches (button combos)/physics glitches (superjumps) = cheating is banned by people leaving you cheating feedback via the XBL interface.

That's all you need to know.

Even if you were able to space, you'd still be abusing Grammer by using the wrong words and/or not using apostrophes.

Wrong...and right.

Superjumps are considered to be cheating by Bungie if used in MM. They cannot easily be patched because they deal with the Havok Physics engine and how it responds to certain texturing interactions.

Freedom of Speech does not equal "Freedom from Consequences when one speaks".

It is a right, and all rights have responsibilities associated with them. Ignore the responsibility, and you tend to lose the right.

Of course you wouldn't, because you're using them too. This is the basis of the whole argument over whether or not button-glitches are legal (other than the fact that Bungie has stated numerous times that they are cheating): when you use glitches in MM you are not agreeing ahead of time with your opponents whether it's "OK" if you use them. In customs, LANs, tournaments, whatever, there are possibly different "rules" that everyone understands ahead of time. When playing on XBL, it's assumed you're playing the game as originally intended and programmed.

It's like playing a game of chess with someone -- there are assumed rules before you begin. If, however, during the game your opponent starts making two moves at once, and hasn't asked you if he can do it, he's cheating because he's obviously gaining an unfair advantage.

The shotgun bxr is the most commonly-used, and easy to tell someone's doing it. The shotgun fires straight up in the air.

I have to smile when I read posts from people that claim that their high level somehow "proves" the legitimacy of glitching. Well, part of the reason they get to those meaningless levels is largely due to the very glitching in the first place.

I can't wait for Halo 3. I'm so tired of the nonsense that goes on now...

I wasn't implying that high level proves the legitimacy of cheating. I was saying If you're a higher level than you most likely don't care when other people glitch. You think people can get high levels just by glitching? People with enough skill don't rely on glitching, but its a handy tool in certain situations.
