Freedom of Speech does not equal "Freedom from Consequences when one speaks".
It is a right, and all rights have responsibilities associated with them. Ignore the responsibility, and you tend to lose the right.

Personally, I only use BXR in sticky situations...However, if I'm beat by someone who perfected the button combos on me then I don't get upset.
Of course you wouldn't, because you're using them too. This is the basis of the whole argument over whether or not button-glitches are legal (other than the fact that Bungie has stated numerous times that they are cheating): when you use glitches in MM you are not agreeing ahead of time with your opponents whether it's "OK" if you use them. In customs, LANs, tournaments, whatever, there are possibly different "rules" that everyone understands ahead of time. When playing on XBL, it's assumed you're playing the game as originally intended and programmed.
It's like playing a game of chess with someone -- there are assumed rules before you begin. If, however, during the game your opponent starts making two moves at once, and hasn't asked you if he can do it, he's cheating because he's obviously gaining an unfair advantage.

However, as there is no way to determine the difference between an BXR and a B-R w/out the animation cancelling X, there is very little that can be done about this type of cheating.
The shotgun bxr is the most commonly-used, and easy to tell someone's doing it. The shotgun fires straight up in the air.

No one would really get banned for button glitches though since barely any people report those who do it, especially if you're at a high level.
I have to smile when I read posts from people that claim that their high level somehow "proves" the legitimacy of glitching. Well, part of the reason they get to those meaningless levels is largely due to the very glitching in the first place.
I can't wait for Halo 3. I'm so tired of the nonsense that goes on now...
