This is true; Beta was a blast. We'd play with and against people that were terrible, but would still stay partied with them because everyone was having a good time exploring all the new awesomeness.

I used to say GG after games, but I got tired of hearing, "get raped, *insert word here.*" Even after I won.

Don't forget the "Play me 1v1 and I'll -blam!- you" after they went negative.

It's today's children. Basicly raping the freedom they have. They should take notice of the game label and wait until they are 17 if they are going to be a little retard. They talk trash, and are not always good. They don't care about you at all. But you should still respect the little demons and still say things like "nice shot" to them. If they hate on you, you know they don't have a life.

I'll still say good game if its a really close game

I generally always finish with a GG while in the postgame carnage. But if I say GG after I've won (or am on the winning side) the general response is 'f__kcing host' or 'f__k you' or 'i'll kick your ass in 1v1'

Or of I say GG when I've lost or on the losing them I get 'f__cking loser' or 'we raped you' or something of that description.

These are the people who take playing a video game at home way too seriously.

Anyone remember Halo online for the PC? It's been years since I've played, but I still have fond memories of the times spent playing. It was a world away from what Halo 2 is now. Back then, it didn't seem to matter that much who won and who lost, but rather whether the game was fun. My favorite weapon was the sniper, and I won't say I was a pro, but I was fairly good at it. I usually stayed alive long enough to empty the sniper a few times, and then I would get taken out by a skilled snipe from the other side. And I almost always would quickly time "nice shot," to which they would say "thanks," and then I'd get revive and get a sniper, and the whole thing would start over again.

My point is: where did that go? You never, never hear "nice shot" on xbox live. It's like suddenly the objective wasn't having fun, but just winning or getting most kills. And there was never any "good game" like in Halo CE; just "you suck" or "you guys cheated" etc. etc. etc. What happened?

I hope the Beta players really are more friendly...

Oh I loved that! But it didn't last, unfortunately. I remember after my first game of the Beta everyone was asking where such and such weapon spawns, how a gamer pulled off a particular shot, etc.

It was only the awe and excitement that one gets from playing the Beta for the first time that prevented the smash-talk.

As for Halo 2 I say "good game" or more frequently "well played guys" but some people just do not deserve it.

Does anyone leave positive feedback? Just out of curiosity.
I used to only leave negative feedback but have recently been making a point to leave Good Session for people that exemplified it. I do not think good feedback has enough weight though, not like the Xbox 360 Gamer rep at least.

Ranks and the kids that think they matter for some strange reason and LIVE is more accessible then H1 PC so we have more people and in general people are Asses.

  • 08.15.2007 7:49 PM PDT

Please no group invites... I only play MLG customs and don't spend my time wasting it on groups, clans or any other internet social crap.

I say good game most of the time, unless when postgame starts and people are already talking crap.

It's strange because when I say good game, people seemed shocked. "uuhhhh.. hhhh.... Thanks.. You too I guess"

  • 08.15.2007 7:59 PM PDT

The whole problem is ranks. Even though all it serves is to match people that are a similar skill to you, people just see it as another status symbol and they make people into competitive dicks. IMO, what they need to do is to either do away with ranks completely, or make your rank totally invisible. That's what I love about Halo PC and Halo 2 for Vista, there's no rank system so people are generally cool, and in the Halo 3 beta the ranking was only temporary, so people didn't care so much.

I like ranks, it gives me a sense of accomplishment (even if it is a videogame, but hey I'm a kid). But yeah, I always say Good Game after a game where there were no -blam!-s on the other team. Gamertag matters a lot too. I get tons of -blam!- because my name is Busta C Note. People always think I'm black and give excessive violence or racist comments toward me (and I'm white).

I'd love to be a 10 year old and tell my mom I'm going on an adventure out into the world catching Pokemon, with her full support. Never mind the fact that there are rapists, criminals, and murders out there, or the fact that I may get killed by a Pokemon.

Luckily I have Pikachu.

Was not always like that for me... I remember oncve killing the VIP on Snowbound when it was tied 9-9, my team won, and one guy on the enmey team was freaking out/cursing at his entire team, I just laughed at him.

I'll still say good game whether or not my team wins. One time I do believe I uttered the words, "brb, gotta change my underpants after that one!" We got owned that game and most of the kills where holy crap. It was like the other team was sam fisher or solid snake and we were the goons they had to take down.

That's a shame. My experience was awesome. I guess it there could have been stuff like that going on, but I didn't always have a headset on so I could have missed it. I just know that the people I talked to were great to play with. Too bad H2 MMisn't always as good an experience. That's why I play LAN if I can arrange a game at school. If I have to go into MM, I usually won't play more than a few games until I'm tired of putting up with it. I wish there was a playlist on XBL that was restricted to people that just want to play a good competetive and friendly game.

I've only used the positive feedback a few times. I use the negative one more often than I want to. How does it actually affect MM? In theory the player can be banned at some point, but I heard that it also reduces my chance of playing with them again. Is that true?

i couldnt agree with you more, i think i posted something close to this a bit ago...but it failed misserably... Yea played a game, and after the games done, i said good game guys... and one guy, has to be a dick and say "YOU HAD HOST AND THATS THE ONLY REASON YOU WON!!"...well it makes me sick, that people are so into the game, that they have to find other reasons than lossing to explain a loss.... lemme see if i can find my post..were is it
edit found it
"just played a game, and we won, but i was accused of having host...when one of my teammates spoke up that i didnt have host (im guessing he did) i was then accused of not being a high rank..."yea.....so what..your only a level 20....." Makes me sick that some people just cant say good game, we lost, or something possitive... but the first thing they could think of was "hes got host"...anyway, does anyone else feel this way? Its a game, and to take it so seriously is very very sad...play for fun not to win, and dont worry about an advantage.. Anyway, to make matters worse, the kid was from KSI (and i will not express my distaste for this clan, for those in KSI out there)
anyway, please reply back with your thoughts on this subject..please keep it clean as i am only looking to find out how people feel about this, and am hoping for it not to get locked before i do.

anyway, heres the game

UnitedBands.net

My band and artist networking/information site. Check it out!

i had a game yesterday in snipers, it was relatively close the whole game but we pulled away and won by 7 kills at the end, and once we get to the after game lobby, we said Good game, the usual telling them it was a very close one, and then two ksi kids, are there screaming YOU SUCK, YOUR HORRIBLE, PLAY ME 1V1 AND WE"LL SEE WAT HAPPENS, after they have 7 kills and went way negatvie, and their teamates did all the work

i personally think they should take away ranks, its really just stupid, and they are wat cause all these problems, and i know some ppl are gonna be like "wat do we have to work for, or show how all our hard work has paid off"..........ITS A GAME your not expose to be working for anything, your expose to be playing it to have fun, or to just relax after a long day. people are taking the game to seriously, and these are the ppl that usually ruin it for the rest of us, that just enjoy playing the game

and the bad part is it doesnt matter wheter you win or lose, your gonna have a little prick on the other team screaming at the end either you lucky -blam!- or you just got owned, its rediculous
