I know it sounds kinda odd, but I think it would be wise to include an IM feature that lets member quickly chat. Like a window pops up like the original myspace IM system. I'm only saying this because im tired of people using the forums to have a "chat" that not even related to the topic and it can go on for days. People obviously aren't using the message system correctly. So I thought a quick way to just bring up a window and start chatting would be nice. Anybody else think so too?

its ok i used it 25% of the time but when someone used it on me thats when i started calling him a n00b and a modder and how i was going to give him negative feedback you sissy needler user.

LOL do you know how many people will try to send IM'S to Achronos?

I would use it. It would be kinda nice to be able to see who is talking to you without having to leave what you are doing to read a message. I also agree that it would free up a lot of space on the forums, because side conversations would stop, and things would stay on topic.

Yeah, there are plenty of other IM services you can use, Bungie doesn't need it's own. Private Messaging is enough.

You got a point. But the bungie.net community is so big now it kinda needs its own IM system.

Well you wouldn't be able to message them anyway, and for forum ninjas they could have the ability to accept IM invites or something. I just really think it would be a nice add on.

Well...Evilcam tried an instant messaging service from another site as an experiment one day. The idea was immediately disbanned.

Too many "pests" on these forums joined in and abused it immediately. People kept posing As AdjutantReflex and other fake bungie.net members. The worst part was, because their i m names were different than bungie.net, nothing happened to them either,

Therefore, if something like this were to ever happen, it would have to be a privelage for very trust worthy members. Otherwise I believe the system would be abbused.

I remember that!! One of the most hilarious and bizarre chatrooms I've ever seen in my life. It was completely useless, of course, but it sure was funny.

Trying something once will increace your chances of success, because you tried it. Try someting twice, and your chances increase yet again - seeing as you've done it. Try something a few thousand times, and your chances of success is exponentially increased; this increase would likely provide success every time

No thanks, if you want to chat, use private messages. If you see a topic going off-topic due to a conversation, simply send a moderator a link with a small description of the problem. There are many things you can use; IRC, Gabbly, or any of the other thousands of 'Instant Messenger' type programs. Hell, just send the user a private message asking for their MSN or AOL email, so you could add them that way. The one thing Bungie.net does not need is an Instant Messaging service.

Nah. It's a forum. If people want to talk bollocks back and forth they can use PMs.

If the person you want to IM with is on B.net, they would receive your PM just as fast, so what's the point? Personally, I'd be annoyed with IM windows popping up all the time.
