Alright, you win. You do nothing but attack me and my "playing style", which you have no idea about by the way. You think you are awesome, and everyone else who thinks different than you can tell you otherwise. I must be horrible. I pick up anything I can buddy, I pick up the BR, the sniper, and yes, I can kill (very well) with the needler. I was simply saying the SMG is NOT a horrible weapon. I see no difference in it or the Assault Rifle coming in Halo 3. Yes, head shots are a skill, duh, I'm simply pointing out (since you missed it) that the SMG has a different strategy all it's own, while the BR shares the same (boring) shooting style as many other guns in Halo 2. Although I am a horrible player and have no idea what I'm talking about. I must be horrible, because I have different views than you. Like how I think button combos and glitches that weren't meant to be in the game, there for making them not apart of it, are utter crap, and a cheap way to win. But, I'm sure that's just my horrible view point that makes be horrible talking again.
Congrats, you're awesome. You win at the Internet. LVL UP!
The SMG is a horrible weapon, under several obvious assumptions.
The same tactics used for the SMG can be used better with the BR, Shotgun, sword, or even rocket.
Furthermore, the same tactics used for SMG would be used better wtih a single wield Plasma rifle.
The function of the SMG is easily replaceable. The skill of using the SMG is not primarily dependent on accuracy and precision. in fact, those are the areas of with the least emphasis. In fact, the only skill that the SMG can reflect from the player is his/her ability to approach the person, get the kill, and survive. In other words, it's all about catching the enemy of guard. But all in all, other weapons easily overshadow it's function making the SMG one of the least valuable weapons in the game. Rarely to you call the SMG a weapon that "turns the tables." In fact, that was never the case in my situation. At least not yet.
Furthermore, it's only usefull if the gametype supports SMG starts. That's because others who ahven't picked up otehr weapons yet will be fighting in the same range as you. But once all the weapon whoring starts, "or if the starting weapon is different", the SMG is never the kind of weapon people want to hog. Why? Because it's still doesn't combat other weapons and the tactics they are capable of well enough to make the win.
That's why it's horrible, along with most dual wields.
