Screw off!

But seriously, I know very little about what you've been doing (apparently) so I can't make a justifiable argument for or against your coming back. If you're going to do the job the way you did, I welcome you with (open?) arms.

But yeah, I don't have enough information to justify anything at the moment.

In a stunning show of irony, I don't know if this thread is really all that necessary. Member's opinions aren't all that important in this situation, and you could have asked a moderator to post the thread in HFCS for you.

hi, i'm a giant asshat

you can blame stosh for that if you want.

i'm also drunk as crap right now
Wemaster is kicking you ass right now isn't he?

Now that that is aside.

I remember when you were a moderator. I never had an issue before while you were a moderator. most of your threads were pretty good after you stopped moderating, well the ones that were made when you weren't drunk anyways.

  • 08.17.2007 12:47 AM PDT

Aren't there a specific number of mods?

Well, I don't want to get in the middle of the politics.

Assuming you're good, good luck with your "quest."

then believe that we have lost our eyes

I'm sure the people you were in an argument with would forgive you. Especially when it happend around two years ago. But then again, I'm the kind of guy who can't stay mad at a person for more than 20 minutes.

I kind of agree with you on mods not posting a lot (mainly with starting threads). Achiles posted probably my favorite video ever posted on here.

Oh man, why did I type such a long post last night? I'll shorten that behemoth down quite a bit. Let me start off by saying there are going to be two kinds of people in this thread. Ones that say "Impy is funny; give him mods" and those who say "He made mistakes, he can't enforce the rules adequately, burn him at the stake."

This is a forum.

Impurity is a fun guy outside of Bungie.net and some of his threads here can be pretty funny, but some cross the line and he knows it. I didn't see the thread he got blacklisted for, but if it wasn't that thread, it would have been something else. I'm not one to deny someone a second chance. I've had a lot of second chances myself (one dealt with a position of leadership so maybe that's why I'm more apt to lean on the "give Impurity a 2nd chance" side). If Impurity were to become a moderator again (hell, even before then), I'd like him to stop posting stuff blatantly against the rules, but he should keep posting a lot because that's what I liked about him when he was a moderator. Most of our mods are way too quiet (even the active ones - though, they are pretty chatty off of Bungie.net). Also, I would hope he can set aside any differences with the moderators he's had disagreements in the past. Apologizing isn't begging, Impurity, and there's nothing wrong with it. Impurity was a good moderator when he moderated, and I considered him better than a lot. If Impurity can change his ways, I don't see why he can't be a moderator again, but to be honest, if he keeps posting stuff blatantly against the rules, I don't see a permaban too far off.

There, that's shorter. I think I got all my long ideas condensed in there. ;-)

Hi Impurity.

I don't know much at all about any of this but I would just like to suggest to you that being a Mod isn't really very important. I mean, if you are offered the opportunity and you think you want to do it badly enough then fair enough. On the other hand, perhaps NOT being a Mod might give you more spare time to actually do something constructive and positive for yourself.

I don't mean to be rude, but if 'drinking' causes you to post on internet forums to express your woes perhaps that should tell you something in itself.

Best of luck.

Trailer Park Boys ~ One of the best Canadian made comedies ever.

I don’t want to get too involved in this thread because I feel it’s for HFCS to decide and debate. However, you specifically asked the community to offer input on your decision and I’m going to do my part and fulfill your request.

I will input in a few short paragraphs, my perspective on the issue. I’m going to explain this from a military standpoint, since I’m a part of the armed forces after all and can relate things easier.

Firstly, Impurity, you claim you were intoxicated and posted on the forums resulting in a blacklisting. Now, undertaking such an action now as a B.net member is irresponsible and a lack of self-discipline on your part. If you’re promoted back to a Forum Ninja, how can HFCS expect you to fulfill your duties if you can’t even uphold basic forum conduct when you’re not a moderator?

Secondly, you had “issues and problems” with other moderators and it forced you to resign. In my view, members of HFCS have to work together and get along to accomplish their goals and ideas. If a person were to struggle to meet those requirements, the group as a whole suffers and “internal pressures” begin to build up and can cause conflict in hours of operation.

I conclude that you most likely have evidence that denies your request to become a Forum Ninja, but you’ve also earned support from the community over the years. Myself as a B.net member has seen you do many good things with the community and when you were a moderator, you did just as good as a job as the others at the time. Also with you having previous mod experience working under Achronos you have most likely earned his trust.

Like I said, I just stated my opinion because you wanted me to. I’m probably off in some areas as how HFCS works, but hopefully they can come with a final decision that is best appropriate for both parties in this situation.

In case you aren't familiar, i use to moderate here. did it for about a year after halo 2 came out. personal issues and problems with other moderators forced me to decide to resign.

To make this simple. a week ago i got drunk, got blacklisted, and sent a message to achronos asking for moderator status back.

So you're a big whino who got blacklisted for your antics last week so you ask for forgiveness and moderator status back and he just agrees... well that sounds just right. Unfair just like everything that happens on this site.

if you don't like this site why do you come?

impurity provides entertainment, it's good enough for me.

It's freaking late so I'm not one to provide any actual reasons, but I'll go with my gut instinct and say, "Sure, what the -blam!-, why not?"

-blam!- the bad behavior, that -blam!- means nothing. It's a website on the internet, -blam!- happens.

  • 08.17.2007 4:35 AM PDT

Impy dude you are the man.

And I agree with you pretty much on everything there about lazy moderating - I'm not being critical, and I'm not around here nearly enough to get an idea of what's the deal. But yeah I saw the thread you were banned for and that was by no means worth a blacklist. Sure, it got out of hand and deteriorated into being a lame bunch of dumb jokes, but in that case ban the wankers who are making the stupid jokes. The thread had a fun potential and it was a clever idea to come up with.

ReZeNer, this isn't a military unit. If you get drunk and make a stupid post you aren't risking anyone's life. It's an internet forum about computer games. Silliness and fun should be the norm really. Stop taking it seriously.

Anyway, yeah, impurity you are the man.

It's easy to gain my trust, but once lost, it's hard to gain once more. I don't see why someone who has been blacklisted various times for spamming and flaming should become a moderator, simply because he asked for it. If we are going to get new moderators, I'd rather have it to be someone else.

I know -blam!- happens. I know our private messages didn't go that well, but I'm cool with that. But right now I see no reason for you to become a moderator once more. I probably sound like a jerk, and it will make me look like the bad guy in some of the people's eyes. But I'd rather be honest than friendly for the sake of sounding friendly.
If there is a point that that i feel you should be a mod again, you'll gain my support, until then, my answer is no. I don't know how the other mods feel about it. If all the others say yes, then so be it, I won't hold some kind of grudge against you.

The forums have changed a lot in the years we have roamed. I think that you are not ready to return. You do have experience. But you lost that experience over the time you weren't a moderator. You let your experience as a forum ninja go to waste with spam topics and what not. What makes you think you can moderate a forum when you cannot even control your own posts? I say no.

I think Imp' s a breath of fresh air in these forums. He has an edgy sense of humor and the anti-elitest attitutude that is sorely lacking here. As far as him flaming, there are few others here that can articulately degrade a person to where the person thinks twice about posting such crap again (the only other former mod who could do that was Shishka). Spamming the Flood? I didnt know it was possible. Him adding some random drunken humor to what is normally a circle-jerk between the regulars there isnt always a bad thing. This is all just my personnal opinion.

He would once again be a good addition to the moderating staff. He would bring some humanity back to the moderating team, who, in my opinion, due to having to moderate the Halo 3 forum, have started a creep towards a black and white moderating mentality with no shades of grey and no room for interpretation.

I think it took a lot of balls to put this out to the community. This is Bungie.net, I have no rights, but would be all for it.

My 2¢.

Moderating isn't about Humor. It's about self diciplin. It is hard for me to trust him at this point that he can do that. The mods aren't about drunken humor. They are about keeping the forums a good place. Otherwise other mods would be making plenty of funny jokes on here.

You assume that they cant take place simultaneously.

I'll let you inform yoozel that his moderating privelages are revoked since he often post while intoxicated. You can let Recon go too as he seems to post a few too many off-topic mom jokes to be considered disciplined.

Pick any non-moderating person on these forums and I guarantee you that Impurity has added more to this community than they have. Simply because Imp posted a few drunken topics, people seem to forget that there was a reason he was asked to be a moderator in the first place, or that he voluntarily resigned.

Impy is full of fun and lulz. As long as Impy can stay full of fun and lulz as a mod, he has my vote (which is of course worth nothing).
