nice update, forge sounds even cooler, noguchi's coming in for the podcast AND we got some sweet screenshots from Narrows, looks like a really cool map, just wondering how we transport to the lower levels tho, they look kinda far down on the map.... backwards grav lift? haha

definitely good update to me
There appear to be several ramps connecting both levels. IGN AU wrote up a nice piece about their impressions of Narrows.

did anyone see, in the 7th picture in the halo3 gallery that the person closest to you is holding a never before seen weapon in his right hand?
Looking at it, I'm guessing it's the Mauler.

So, wait, I'm confused. Do we have to buy "Bungie Pro" in order to browse screenshots, others' file shares so we can flag stuff for download, ect..., and what have you on Bnet?

No, downloading and Bungie.net use is free for all Silver and Gold users, and is planned to be unlimited. If we find downloading to be unsustainably heavy, we have the option of placing limits on it (tiered for Silver, Gold, and Pro) but we expect to have enough capacity that this won't be necessary.

I should also mention that as far as the file sharing feature is concerned, "free trial" Gold memberships, which usually come in the 48-hour flavor and can't be applied to an existing account, will still count as Silver, to prevent the system from being abused by people with stacks of those things. On the other hand, the free-month card that came in my copy of Halo 2 for Vista is a "full" Gold membership, was addable to my existing account to extend the membership, and will give you file-share rights.

And the Shadow fell upon the Land, and the World was riven stone from stone. The oceans fled, and the mountains were swallowed up, and the nations were scattered to the eight corners of the World. The moon was blood, and the sun was as ashes. The seas boiled, and the living envied the dead. All was shattered, and all but memory lost, and one memory above all others, of him who brought the Shadow and the Breaking of the World. And him they named Dragon.

But is it possible to share files between accounts on the 360 first? Let's say RedBack shared his saved film from silver to his gold account. The gold account downloaded it. Then could the gold account upload it?

I don't believe it's possible to do that.

My understanding was that you can use any account to save files to your 360's drive, then use your gold to upload your stuff. Then if you get pro on that and fill it up, you can use a silver account, go pro on that too and use that to upload more from the drive that you recorded using another account.

As was said, it would be a mule account.

And why does tsavo highway have space elevator debris on it? You cut one of those things off at the anchor and it would get pulled up into space not collapse back down (yeah that sounds silly, but thats physics and space for you)

Speaking of which, Xbox 360's come with a special deal for 3 free one month accounts. The first 3 xbox live accounts you have on your 360 have a special deal for a 1 month gold trial. So anybody could just create another account, make files, and then share them.

I'm really not sure if this is related, but during the beta, I was able to download saved films from other players' shared files, then put them into my own share, as though I had recorded them myself. All members involved were Gold, however.

That applies in a way to what I'm talking about. It may have changed from the beta. But I doubt it. So thanks for pointing that out.

How's life?

Takin' forever...

There IS a question that has been nagging at me day in and day out. Allow me to preface.

Every week, as Halo 3 draws near, I read a paragraph detailing the "infinite win" that the game delivers.
Each Podcast I hear someone throw in a sentence or two about how "infinite" Halo 3's "win" is.

Well today, I am suggesting we move forward with our language. Do for the English language what Bungie has done for gaming.
I suggest we embrace the contraction. Now, it is not so much a contraction as it is a meshing of two words that describe the Halo/Bungie experience.
And therefore, I suggest rather we embrace the meshing of words.
Beginning with Will Ferrell's 'Inside the Actor's Studio' sketch, the one where James Lipton is forced to come up with a word to describe the show, "Match Game," words like Scrumtralecent have been all-encompassing beacons of perfect description. And now I say we turn that beacon to shine its glorious light upon Halo 3. I give to you:

"Winfinite."

If you weren't quite ready...if you were a bit caught off guard and perhaps did not catch its full gust of perfection in the sails of your in-brain dictionary...here it is again:
"Winfinite."

It is a word made of two other words. It takes the work out of describing Halo 3, allowing those who wish to do so to focus hard on the game itself to realize the "Winfinity" of it all. It rolls gently off the tongue like a sloop slips silently onto a lake in the early morning fog. It caresses the ears like a set of earmuffs crafted from the foreskin of baby harp seals.
Not only is this new word a much needed addition to the vocabulary of the masses, it is the key to opening doors that we have yet to even see.

New catch phrases will emerge:
"To Winfinity...And Beyond!"
Movies starring Winnifer Lopez, Winona Ryder, and Wince Vaughn will be written and titled, "It's a Winderful Life."
People will change the way they think about what the word 'win' means, and in turn it will be used in every facet of their Halo 3 experience.

Please, Think of the children.
That is all I ask.

Wincerely Yours,

Every Puga

Epsilon is for employees only. No one gets an invitation (Unless you work for Microsoft...possibly). It is for Microsoft workers only.

Stunning.......just stunning, you know I foresee 'win' in all its glorious infinity to be the wave of the future! Deep breaths, Altogether now…….WINFINITE!! it demands that you Bask in the glory of halo 3 !

Yeah anyway, great update

The new map Narrows looks class although I have already seen it, and the Bungie pro idea sounds great , with all that extra space for a very small fee. The gritty and delightful treat from Neill Blomkamp sounds promising and I hope he does the halo universe justice in his short, witch I’m sure he will. Looking forward to hearing more on the forge editor soon to. All in all things are sounding very cool. Oh the WETA Hog with the marine looked pretty sweet also!

Nice update Luke

edit: you know, it's funny but I feel a sudden urge to say something utterly pointless, something like.......WOOT 5TH PAGE !! Ash now I shall sit back as the feeling of content sets in.

why are you, for possibly the greatest game of all time, giving away 2-3 spoilers every week? the only reason I can surmise is that your afraid that Halo 3 isn't anywhere near as good as you want it to be, and you are hyping it as much as possible so more people buy it. if thats not the case you guys must simply be idiots then. we don't need any more -blam!- information on Halo 3, its little over a month from release and thus we need to know nothing more.

Did you release a torrent of Campaign info and screen shot's of Halo 2 a month before release? no. so why do it now? it is illogical. The E3 trailer was bad enough, and now another Campaign Screen shot? and encase you're wondering why the E3 trailer did more bad then good, you confirmed stuff we didn't need to know. example, Arbiter and Chief working together. Awe striking explosion when that Scarab goes up in flames. and numerous moments that would have best been experienced in our own living room, not our computer screen's months before we get to play it.

Now, say you didn't release these spoilers that do nothing but hurt Halo 3's game play. when a player gets to the battle with the Scarab, they would have been sitting in front of their T.V with their jaw on the floor in amazement as the rockets deformed and blew craters out of the Scarabs Armour. now, all we are going to get is "Hmm, looks exactly like I saw it in that trailer, cool" as opposed to the above. the same with the pelican's coming out of the Covenant Cruiser, had no one seen the spoiler bound trailer people would have been sitting on the edge of their seat's with adrenaline pumping through them as they saw explosion's and the awesome camera angle's as the pelican's dodged incoming fire and rocketed to earth.

All I'm saying is you need to just stop with any and all information pertaining to Halo 3 full stop. we do NOT need to know anything more then we already do, because the more you know the less surprised and awestruck you are.

I have a question for the next podcast or an update.
In Forge, is the reason for the spending limit due to the limited power of the XBOX 360, or is it because it would make the file to large for file-sharing?
Or is it just one of those lame limitations on games which seems common? The latter, I doubt.
