I recently began using a laptop as my main computer. It's specs are as follows:

Mobile Athlon 64 2.0GHz
Mobility Radeon 9600 w/ 64MB memory
512MB main memory
80GB HD
widescreen display with normal (and max) res at 1280x800

I'm having a major problem with playing Halo PC on this laptop.

Whenever I try to type something in chat, I cannot see anything I type. The semi-transparent bar appears at the bottom of the screen, but no text appears on it. Not even the "All:" or "Team:" to tell me who I'm communicating with. If I type something in and press enter, it will still appear in the list of things being said as normal, but it's usually filled with typos because I cannot see mistakes before I send. Also, several times I've gotten an exception from the game when I try to chat.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I also have a laptop as my main computer that I use for halo. Brand new from dell . As for the text, my guess, and I am pretty sure is that the connection is lagging. Not enough for the game to slow down but enough so that the words take a while to register. And from your specs their, its your radeon card, its not fast enough. Me, personally, have never had a problem and I have everything on high settings. You say that you have resolution at full, try turning it down and if you dont like that I suggest finding something else that you dont mind turning down. Hope this helps a little. And my last guess would be your internet connection. I am still a noobie at halo stuff but not as much as before i started.

Heyyo,

No, for text errors? install that mslmenu.msi that appears in your Halo folder.

Other than that? could be your videocard drivers.. his comp's strong enough to keep the game running ok, I mean, the game's supposed to work decently onna geforce2 for christ sakes. :p
