Most of the PC issues posted here are the result of PEBKAC.

I think it might be a problem with something other than the videocard, but most of my games run fine, except sometimes the framerate drops a lot, but returns to normal afterwards.

It could be processor related, I am using a 3.06 GHz Pentium 4. Or it may be the RAM which is DDR 2 533, 1 GB.

Whatever the case, it happens more when I have my settings turned up. Medium to Lowest settings don't induce the symptoms as much.

Ah, look at the lonely people...

More than likely it's a Vista problem (drivers, ect...), or its your RAM. For gaming on Vista, it's probably best to have 2GB.

If you had a dual core processor and/or more RAM, you would notice a drastic change in performance.

When you say that the frames aren't too stable, do you meant stuttering? Because then it would make sense since you have 1GB RAM, I experienced stuttering with 1GB and then I upgraded to 2 and no more stuttering - always stable frames.

Seconded. Get at least 512MB more RAM and you should be fine.

Now, in the quantum moment before the closure, when all become one. One moment left. One point of space and time. I know who you are. You are destiny.

Yes, Dual-Core makes my PC go 'round.

Yeah I get stuttering.

It looks like I'll be buying RAM before I pay for a C2D. Thanks for the responses.
