Alot of people that play halo pc believe it is "elite" to create, trade, and or download Cheats that allow them to have an un-fair advantage over those that choose not to use such nefarious methods of gameplay. I like many other believe that in reality these "hackers" are too lame and skilless to be actual genuine Halo Pc players. I would like to know in fact if there is any possibility of a joining of forces between some anti-cheat technology (punk-buster, or somthing like the valve anti cheat VAC, ect) and the bungie Halo PC title. In the hopes that these cheat exploiting players might be eradicated from all servers that might implement this anti-cheat technology. If you havent seen, or dont believe these cheats exist, try going onto google and searching for about 30 minutes to an hour. I bet you might be suprised what you find. If you are like me and are tired of watching people shoot rockets out of thier back at you as you try to melee attack. Please add your own thoughts and frustrations to the Devs' watchfull eye and make this post be the precedent that takes Halo PC onto a anti-cheat plateau.

The server-side authorative nature of the netcode prevents using most cheats.

I didnt even know there were codes to Halo for computer, of course you dont need codes for a hacker, so I vote yes, if there are any hackers, lock 'em up and tie 'em in chains, I say.

such netcode is of course challenging to the hackers that are writing cheats for halo, but this only makes it harder to believe that there are actually cheats (which btw is good for the hackers unfortunately). Trust me.. there are cheaters even on the kickass servers that bungie hosts. no matter what kind of brick walls the hacker must face he/she is dertermined to dig a hole underneath to get tho the other side. Conquering the code in any game makes the lowlife hacker feel "1337", therefore Halo PC may be challenging to hack, but in no way is it "un-hackable".

Most of the supposed cheaters will either be very good players or hosts running a modified map.

When is it okay to cheat in a game? Oh wait, NEVER.

Anti-cheat would be crap. As well as slowing down the game, they're not flawless. An example. I can't play Far Cry on the Ubi servers because PunkBuster keeps failing. It doesn't detect any hacks; it seems that the Ubi servers are just out-of-date. This would seriously piss me off with Halo PC.
But most of the "hacks" that you have noticed can be attributed to hacked map files on the host's part. And I seriously doubt you really had someone hitting you from the other side of BG with an AR, mainly because it would be extremely difficult to see you in the first place.

WOW you are really against stopping hackers... Why I may ask? By the way I only play Halo PC on the official Bungie servers..so the host side theory is gone... and YES it would be mighty difficult to hit me on the other side of BG with every shot from an AR, thats why its called "hacking". Also I play Far Cry online with Punk-Buster, and have never had a problem, but then again i dont use hacks, and my comp is pretty sweet so there is no "slowing ".

So why is it that you are SOOO against an anti-cheating technology (could be anything doesnt have to be Punk-Buster) being applied to Halo PC?

Because it's pointless. And your official Bungie server could quite easily be a fake one, but I doubt it.
Really, it's because I've never experienced any cheating, and I would rather they concentrate on fixing all the bugs than implementing some costly anti-cheat technology.
