I'm tall, white, and male. Therefore I am automatically the bad guy.

This is the strangest thing to ever happen to me while playing Halo.

Try a faster ISP.

Now, in the quantum moment before the closure, when all become one. One moment left. One point of space and time. I know who you are. You are destiny.

Hey dude, you're getting it the wrong way. You're new with PC's, right? That's fine if you are. Ping, or latency, is the speed in which your information travels to the server. ' Improving your ping' can be taken as lowering it. When you host a server, 0 is your ping because you're hosting it and there's no need for information from your PC to travel anywhere. In servers which are not yours you will have ping/latency. The lower it is, the faster the information travels. And it is better. The higher it is, the higher is your lag.

By the way, thanks for asking nicely. We don't usually get any nice fellows here anymore.

What it is.

Also make sure you exit programs that use the internet, like messaging programs(except Xfire is fine), P2P clients, anything that will eat your connection up, close it. Other than that, like others have said, the lower the ping, the better the connection. If your ping is high(120+) I'd suggest getting a faster service.

Yes. Programs like MSN and Ventrilo may slow your Internet, so if you're just chilling with your clan in it or with friends but not talking you're better off closing it. Teamspeak doesn't really lag. MSN is an Internet whore though, so when I play a game I usually log off.
