Hey guys,

I just picked up Halo 2 for my 360 after playing the Halo 3 beta. I love the game (maybe not fanatically, but I like the multiplayer).

I find in ranked matches the losing players will always quit early, it never fails. There was one match where I was left my myself and ended up with a 9-22 score because of it. I am not one to quit, I have never done it on purpose unless necessary (have to go somewhere).

I have been playing R6: Vegas, Gears, NHL 07 on Live since February 2007 and I very seldom see quitting on those games. In NHL 07 I absolutely smoked some poor guy 14-1 and he congradulated me.

Now I've heard some bad things about the H2 Live community (immature name callers, etc) but to be honest I just laugh at those people. After all they are probably all mommy's boys. But quitters absolutely irritate me to no end, especially when they leave me all alone in an objective match.

I personally feel and hope that Halo 3 should have a severe penalty for quitting matches. I realize that things come up and lagging out can occur, but most of the time its just some lamer who quits.

Perhaps they could reward the guys who stay and fight.

quitting is a friggin epidemic on H2 sadly. especially in the unranked playlists.
for some reason I have yet to play NHL 07 on live, but hockey fans are usually awesome people so I wouldn't be surprised if it had a good community

That's what the RP system is for in Halo 3. If you stay in the game, your RP goes up, no matter how bad you lose. If you quit, your RP goes down. It's not a severe penalty, and it won't get rid of all the quitters, but it helps.

Yes Leburn, early quiting is very common mate.

As is betrayals, delevelling, cheating, host advantage, network manipulation, booting people, cursing, superbounces, button glitching, immature kids, arrogant people and too many other to mention. As for the community, well the H2 reputation proceeds itself obviously.

Best advice is to work on joining parties of 3-4 persons. Reducing your chances of people quitting on your team and therefore you also. Now if only I could take my own advice and stop playing Matchmaking on my own ;-)

Clans are good (if members are active) and having the 'right kind of people' on your friends list will help out. Maybe post/browse adverts in the classified forums for similar people that stay the entire game, whether winning or losing.

Also the player matching systems in halo 3 are more advanced and tested (thanks to H2), so we should all see matching with players more similar to our styles. I just hope Bungie match quitters with quitters. Now that would be funny.

John Travolta and Illmind are fine examples of this glorious community and the types of players that quit out regularly.

My recommention to you guys is wise up, party up or play rumble pit if you can't handle random team mates.

There was a man from Allentown who fed his son to death.
He calmly watched him gorge himself until his final breath.
And there he stood, surprised and shocked above his tiny frame.
He said: "I bear no blame for this. I only share his name!"

I can't remember the last time I played a MM game where someone didn't quit. That's why I only play customs nowadays.

PS: Where are the mods? Please ban this John Travolta guy . . . Every topic he posts in he is being an idiot.

I agree, don't join matchmaking if you can't handle random players. All you do is ruin it for the other 3. Like I stated in another post, I am a player who starts out slow, but will go on a tear later. The best example of a team staying together was in my first match of Team Slayer. We were generally sucking during the start and were down 26-9 at one point, but in the last minutes, we pulled out a last second victory (litterally) of 50-49. I finished with a 9-15 score (I know), but because we stuck together we won. If 1 or 2 guys would have quit, we would have surely never comeback and won.

Ok mate.

Happy to see your contribution to the thread was of the highest quality, well thought out and increased my working knowledge of this game. Time well spent reading your reply.

After browsing other posts by you, it is clear I am dealing with a genius.

/sarcasm

Good day sir.

I third it.

And Leburn, that is exactly why I never quit (unless I have to go somewhere, or I'm playing unranked and a friend invites me to a curtom). You always have the chance to come back. I remember one time, we were down 25-12 and two guys on our team quit. The other team had all the power weapons (we were on lockout, hence, the sword, sniper, shotgun, and they usually camped BRs), and my teammate, who, thank god, didn't quit, and I kept getting mowed down. By them time they had 40, we had 16. Then, I got a VERY lucky stick as I fell off the map. I killed one and lowered the shields of two others. My teammate had just gotten a BR, so he took those two. Then something happened. We both went on rampages, me with sniper/BR, him with BR/shotgun. The other team had just fallen apart. We ended out the game 46-50. That, truly, was an AWESOME comeback. :D

Classic Halo introduction story Leburn. No wonder you're still playing this game.

Too right about sticking it out! Team mates and opponents both go in and out of the 'zone' during the length of any one game. Add to that the simple fact weapons and map control usually change hands each game, it seems silly that players quit so early on in a game.

i agree. one of the things that will always piss me off is someone quiting. yes, i do quit unranked games if i get a party inv. but i try not to ever quit a ranked game. and i seriously think the john travolta guy should stfu about his bs lies, becuz we're not all dumb asses. idk if its me, but i just cant believe a nubmuffin like john travolta could beat a pro who was #1 in ffa. unless he cheats of course..

Another crappy point about quitting out early -

How can quitters ever learn from better players than themselves? If they quit each time they start to lose, doesn't this lead them to keep quitting more in future games?

How could quitters ever adapt or learn new strategies from the 'better teams/players' that effectively beat them each game? Personally I always try to use the respawn countdown as my 'assessment time'. Giving me insight to how, why, where, who and with what weapon I got beaten.

Not just leaving the game because I could not handle losing, like a spoilt little brat.
