Subject: Should additional moderators be hired?

Old school Bungie, born and raised,
In the Septagon is where I spend most of my days.
Relaxin', maxin', posting all cool,
Talking about Halo, life and some school.
Got in one little argument, and the mods got scared,
they said "You're gonna get banned and your member title'll be bare!"

I don't think we need more, they just need to be on 24/7.

Not possible. Moderators have actual jobs, families, and other responsibilites that take precedence over a non-paying responsibility.

Frankly, members should moderate themselves. I'm sick of people complaining about crap that they actually have control over.

True, all this talk about...TAHT'S TEH OLD! YOU PHAIL! Is really...really irritating every time you see it...a simple 3-day black list to whoever does annoying crap like that would fix it I think...

But there are enough mods (I think) currently to be around enough...no need right now for some new ones.

When scans, leaks or Terms of Service violations start slipping by unnoticed by a moderator for about....maybe two or three hours...then this site may need new mods...

its not the people that say TAHTS TEH OLD! YOU PHAIL! that bother me. its the people who post the same stuff over and over again and clog up the forums with repeat posts (brute -blam!-, anyone?), and also those who get away with blatant violations of the rules. (anyone see the political discussion in the halo 3 forums that lasted for 6 pages?).

Patience, young skywalker!

No one should be getting upset over such a thing. I don't care how long anyone stays on this site (I do an average of 6-8 hours daily), there are those that don't come on here too often. No one is required to acknowledge a thread. Just ignore it if it bothers you.

Whatever you say, Lucky Sniper 08. You and your alt accounts are starting to get on my nerves. Stop trying to get your alt turned into a moderator

Who do you really think you're fooling?

AHAHAHA all of u guys r taking this too far. if bungie needed more ninjas they would get more ninjas. and foman, i wouldnt jump to any conclusions cuz im lucky sniper, not cg. idk where u got that from, but i do know him personally and he is a cool guy. oh and thinking i would make accounts to help this guy become a mod is ridiculous.. thats not who he is at all. maybe u should get to know him// as for me, i just wanted to remain anonymous becuz so many people kept bothering me, but u brought this up so i felt i should set things straight

Regardless, members-nominating-members is not how things work around these parts. In fact, it's probably be a step in the wrong direction.

I was almost sure people were never serious about that.

The campaign of "Nightstalker750 for modz" was a different story.

i wasn't nominating anyone, just sayin that foman was saying the wrong -blam!- and the other 2 ppls dont know cg either cuz him "helpin out" is a normal thing. i know him in real life and he does so much crap for others its unbelivable. im just tired now of people talking about this guy. u guys dont understand that this "guy" is the most generous person u could ever know, i know him and he treats everyone w/ respect and he's just 1 of a kind he has had the worst life imaginable and i used to make fun of him for being so perfect. i realize that and i just want this -blam!- to stop trust me i talked to him the other day and he is goin through the toughest -blam!- right now but he still helps out. just dont give him that or say stuff bout him, cuz he truely is the nicest person i know. he wouldnt do anything like wut u guys say or ever take adv of anyone. so to people who think that, -blam!- off . even though idk him that well, he is my friend and im gonna back him up. mods, u can lock this thread cuz this discussion about a user is against the rules anyways

I don't know, it seems to me that whenever something illegal pops up on the Halo 3 forum, it seems to be dealt with quick enough by a moderator...so right now, no. Maybe after Halo 3 comes out, then this site will be really active.

Yes, but bear in mind that the Halo 3 forum is much spammier and crammed with people shouting through their posts to make their opinions heard - not to mention, and I think GameJunkieJim made this point a while ago - the vast majority of new members are coming here to discuss Halo 3, as one of the next big projects in the gaming world. Ergo, the Halo 3 forum requires a lot more supervision than, say, the Septagon, because of the sheer amount of activity that goes on there, and the somewhat-frenzied nature of said activity.

DC87, just stop talking about him. It's not helping anything, and the thread doesn't need to be locked just because you keep talking about him.

I am a Floodian

I think having some assistant ninjas for a short time would be perfect. Though, they should maybe have a different collored text than regular mods, and not as many powers. Temporary bans, lock/sticky threads at most.

2B || !2B - Why don't you look Inside the Machine?

The quality of moderation is at it's highest I think so far. With newer tools and interfaces it isn't a matter of "How do I ban someone or control a large 'outbreak' of spam." It is "How do I do this and prevent it from happening again."

I still miss Shishka though.

No the amount of mods is fine as it is, unless theyre objecting ofcause and are feeling that they could need some help.

I do call for some consistency among the existing mods though.

I don't think we need more moderators.

Not necessarily. Members who are younger than 23-24 (assuming they go to college) have plenty of other things to keep them busy, such as school,. a part time job, girls, studying and sports to name a few things. Older moderators likely have a regular job schedule, and usually don't have to worry about sports, studying, and off-hour job work.

I don't suppose I could convince you to tell my boss that?

-- Steve's gut already kills his worry about sports. (Though, with diligence, sports would kill the gut... too much work, though.)
