My little brother and I (aww, how sweet), were playing level 1, normal difficulty, co-op. We flew through the beggining of the level until keyes hands you the pistol. I ran through the doorway towards the grunts, and both the pistols suddenly have rounds. Then my little brother decides to kill Keyes, to see if it can be done. The other day I had killed Johnson jokingly, and I was surprised, because you can't do that in Halo 2. Anyway, if you shoot Keyes with the pistol, you hear Cortana say, "The master chief has gone rampant, security to the bridge" or something. Some marines come in that you can't kill. This makes for some really funny situations, like me and my little brother unloading on a marine for 3 clipos each of AR ammo and him saying, is that all you've got?
Anyway, the meat of the story: This feels like a minigame to me. Here is why: Somethimes you can kill both the pilots, sometimes only 1. Sometimes niether. Sometimes you can kill a crewmember sitting down on the bridge, sometimes not. And the little area under thepilots, with a ladder going back up. You can use that as a refuge. Also, when you kill keyes, a door opens up outside the bridge, but unfortunately there is only a short hallway and a red door there.
Has anyone else noticed this, and tried to kill the bridge crew in different orders? it is fun, and the fact that sometimes some of them die and sometimes they don't makes me feel like there is something there, but I might just be grasping at thin air.
