Subject: Bungie.net and adult gamers.

Old school Bungie, born and raised,
In the Septagon is where I spend most of my days.
Relaxin', maxin', posting all cool,
Talking about Halo, life and some school.
Got in one little argument, and the mods got scared,
they said "You're gonna get banned and your member title'll be bare!"

Everyday, I become less enthralled with Bungie.net and the forums. It isn't necessarily because of younger generations on here, but it's more a result of the differences between the two groups.

What I was wondering was, do any plans, drafts, or ideas exist that may better harbor the tastes of adult Bungie Studios fans, or possibly attempt to bring more into the community?

I, and I'm sure many other adult fans such as myself (and even some of the younger fans, too.) would much appreciate an environment more tailored to our needs and interests (complete with Ben-blam!- cream, adult diapers, elastic waistbands, and the sorts!).

Edit: And just for clarification values, in no manner am I trying to bring adult content to Bungie.net.

Anyone but Foman. He smells like cheese.

Prommy, you're very mature, but since when does 17 constitute adulthood? Or did you have a birthday?

The two groups you speak of are more easily defined by maturity rather than age.

I would bet that most of the people you classify in the "other" group are your age (based on Fromans post, yes I mis-spelled it on purpose) or older.

Several months ago. Speaking of which, I don't recall ever receiving a gift from you...

I know what you're saying. In retrospect, I do beleive in a non-defined line. The between-area between your maturity levels is a foggy, grey haze, so there is no definable way to say "This group and that".

All things being equal, I'm not saying their way of forumming is wrong, only that it doesn't fit my tastes.

I really wouldn't separate the two groups by age...but whether or not one person (regardless of age) can act mature.

So basically it's the mature posters vs. the immature posters...not the young vs. the old.

...imo.

Finally found a way to dispose of them, eh?

As long as you have an interstate hazmat transport license, I guess where you send them is up to you.
Sadly, the trucks aren't big enough. We have a C-5 coming in to get the first ten.

Better reinforce your roof, Prommy!

Go Chiefs

I thought this thread was going to be about people that play video games in the nude. That's how I keep my gaming "adult."

Maybe I need to start a group.....

There are times when it's good to be on the ground floor of an apartment building...

As for your Galaxy transports coming in: Foman, you're so full of -blam!- that not even the entire fleet of US airships could transport your fecal waste to my doorstep. I laugh at your attempts.

On a side note, the last person to call me "Prommy" was a girl. Nice going, Francine.

EDIT: I laugh at your comment, and your name, Sir Comference.

It would help if you described in a little more detail, of what you were thinking about.
Group handle this as far as I'm concerned. Within groups the admins can weed out the "kids" and keep the more mature posters.

I see little difference, most of both groups are very immature.

I'm fine with the content here. If you're looking for more exotic or adult themed things, well, this isn't the place. Bungie.net has to cater to a pretty vast demographic as far as age is concerned. We have very young children here all the way to people like Recon. The best plan of action is to make it family-friendly so no one is hurt :)

Hehe, for a moment, I thought this was another one of those "Bungie.net should have a [unclothed humans doing various outdoor and indoor recreational activites] Section!"

I'm not sure what else you could add to seperate the adults from the younger people. Make a group? :P

To appeal to all nine people who are old enough to view the content and have an unhealthy fixation on a computer program?

If I could think of anything "adult" that wasn't something that someone would object to, I'd suggest it. Otherwise, all I can think of is more "mature" discussion, which really I don't see as that big of a problem depending on where you go, what you want to see, and what you do to manipulate the environment around you.

Even myself being a young adult, I think that this site is fine. The best way to not get into trouble is to ward it off from the get go. Family values are good standards that are held here for all ages. If you don't participate in the forums you still get to read the news on the front page. If you're talking about adding Master Chief Cigarettes and Play Spartan, well, this honestly isn't the place for such material hinted at.

That's the kind of attitude I'm trying to avoid with this thread and my time on Bungie.net. I'm all fine and dandy with people acting the way they want, but the least that can be done is for the host to cater to as many groups as they can without it becoming a burden.

I enjoy discussing/debating Halo theory and storyline, but, if it were up to me, I'd do it without the contest of who can flame the best or overuse the most that seems to be the standard of foruming at this point in time.

Perhaps I'm asking too much, and I should move on to a restrictive and progressive forum such as NeoGaf (Several Bungie Studios employees regularly attend there, and I have friends who constantly recommend the site to me).or one of the select others that already offer what I'm seeking. I guess keeping a positive reputation here isn't as rewarding enough if I'm not going to enjoy my time here.

Halo3Planet, the place for all things Halo 3..

Need help finding skulls, make sure to go here.

I'm really not sure if something like that could be implemented at B.net. I highly doubt the Web Team would be interested in making an age restrictive forum, and I doubt they will ever put restrictions on the site, even though it is for a rated M game. The only real solution that I can think of for your problem is to use Private Groups. That's the best way to only have conversations you want to have with the type of people you want to have them with.

I'm not looking for any age restrictions anywhere. I enjoy such forums as The Underground or this forum, The Septagon, but they aren't as active as I'd like them to be (I venture into Bungie.net a dozen times a day, spending about 6-8 hours daily), nor do they offer all I enjoy discussing while spending time here. What I believe to be one possible solution (I may not have expressed this thoroughly enough yet) would include having a forum dedicated to All Halo (Halo: CE to Halo 3 and beyond?), but have it be heavily moderated, Allowing those who want to debate the Halo-verse without the "flaming" and giberish that come with some of the other forums of similar purposes.

Think of that how you like.

Yea, I am no adult but I have come to like this forum over most for its more mature users. For example I really enjoy the Halo 3 forums besides the flaming, useless threads created to tick people off, to much sarcasm. I mean anytime you mess up or post something even hours old its "Old, You Phail", "Thread Fail". It get old, I mean be a little more mature and don't post what someone above you said. Also in threads that are meant to make people mad, people are posting non stop "Thread Locked, 1,2,3..." "You Phail" "1-800-LOCKED", Yea ok one post isn't even needed, let thread die.

Which brings me back to this forum...which is slow...and not active.

Pretty much how I'm feeling at the moment. As I mentioned a little indirectly in the OP (and a little more clearly later on) that I don't feel it's age entirely that defines what I like/dislike in foruming, and I'd enjoy hearing the perspective of people who differ in standing from myself, though without the unnecessarities that I come across too often now.

Age I don't think has much to do with it, It is just how drunk the the guy is (not literally) or how hyper the kid is.

I am 13 by the way, yes very young.

There are no irrelevant quotes of historical figures here. Neither will you find any links, chain posts, memes, clan advertisements, self-promotions, or the tiniest of ASCII pictures.

So go away.

I'd never heard of NeoGaf, but I just perused their boards, and it looks like exactly what you're pining for. In fact, I'm joining over there now. They don't let you register with a free email address or have more than one account, which in itself probably deters a huge amount of undesirables.
