Old school Bungie, born and raised,
In the Septagon is where I spend most of my days.
Relaxin', maxin', posting all cool,
Talking about Halo, life and some school.
Got in one little argument, and the mods got scared,
they said "You're gonna get banned and your member title'll be bare!"

First off, to whoever mentioned it, this discussion has nothing to do with "adult content", it has never been mentioned, so go take a cold shower...
My intent was to inquire whether anyone here at Bungie.net felt the same way as I do, thinking that younger and older people often think differently (not always though, of course), requiring different environments to keep them entertained. I was simply suggesting that focus be put towards bringing more older fans into the mix of the Bungie community.

And since you all seem to enjoy hearing about older women and (ironic in comparison to this threads ideology) adult situations, I bring you this. (it's better if you know who she is.)

I think there will always be immature people on the internet who troll, spam, or whatever, and to put any kind of restriction on Bungie.net would be for Bungie to keep some of their fans from using the site. All we can do is just not reply to their posts, and try our best to be mature and not flame or troll, ourselves.

I think the best solution would probably be to have an ignore option for certain users' posts... but maybe with some sort of small thing saying "The user who created this post is on your ignore list. Click here to see the post." so that we don't wonder why some parts of the topic have mysteriously disappeared.

It would be better to have a "Mark as Spam" or "Report reply" button. I know a report post button is in the works already though, so we will have to see.

Last I heard, they aren't going to implement a report post button due to potential abuse. A couple idiots with a free afternnon could report 90% of the active threads here.

The only way it might work would be to display a list of reported threads with the name of the person who reported it. If one person has an inordinate amount of reports, a mod/admin could apply a system-wide "Ignore Reports From This User" function.

I think you are confusing my idea with others posted here. I don't encourgae restricting members from a public board, but what I would like is a board that focuses on bringing in a larger adult demograph. The way I see it, this can be done by reducing the ammount of spam on that particular board. Anyone would be welcome to participate, but the consequences there would be much more severe than other boards that already exist today.

You do realize it isn't possible to really abuse a report post button other than spamming reports right? Not to mention you have to give a reason for them to even look at what you reported. Achronos even acknowledged it was in the works, but they haven't had time due to Halo 3 being so close to release.

Kids are not the only ones spamming. Adults are doing it as well. Its good to have the mix. Restricting the fourms is a terrible Idea.

No, the Report Thread feature is coming.

As mentioned a few weeks ago in this post:

Oh, and btw, a "report thread" feature has been designed, all that remains is the implementation part. Unfortunately, Halo 3 is taking up all of my time, so no ETA on that... probably not until a release after the Halo 3 launch, but hopefully this year. And don't worry, everyone will be able to use it, and no, it won't be abusable, even though it will appear to be easily abused, partially for my amusement and partially to trap those that think they will be able to abuse it. :)

I think that what you are talking about would be better achieved with a karma or rating system anyway - not that it would or should happen, just saying that's a more productive categorisation than a distinction by age, because the results would be similar but anyone would have a chance to be mature.

I have no idea where any of you are coming up with the notion of an age-restricted forum. No where have I said this to be true.
